This is exactly the type of reply that Arthur was hoping he'd get :) He wants this to be an 'us' thing. I have had (and still do to some extent) my thoughts about Gen Con, but after looking at the schedule, I am opening up to the idea of going a lot more. Monoploy & Scrabble tournments alone...

This is sometign he wants to share with me, and it's soemthign that means a lot ot him. Shouldn't that be enough of a reason to make a compromise and go for a little bit?

I'll be taking off two days of work, and going even though going to Gen Con wouldn't be my choice to get away for the weekend before I leave. He's compromising knowing that he will have to take a few hours away to do soemting with me (be it dinner & a movie, a minor league baseball game, etc)...

When that want is something that is important to you, you try to compromise to get what you want, don't you?

It's more like: He gets to go to Gen Con, and I get to get away for a few days with him before I leave, even if it might not be my ideal get away spot (not like either one of us could afford anywhere I'd want to go [somewhere tropical] anyway.) He gets to be happy at Gen Con I get to be happy...

It isn't no-strings-attached alternative, but he knows I would never ask him to miss osmeting that is so important to him.

He has already said that if it means that much to me, that he won't go, but that's totally not fair to him, which is why I am trying to be flexible. I'm hoping that whatever we wind up deciding that we are both happy by the end result.

I understand what your saying, but I'm trying to see it from his view also, and I understand where he is coming from, which is why I am trying to compromise (coming in Friday-Sunday).

Fake girlfriend? I'd offer to show you pics and stuff, but I'm sure you would just come up with something else. You'd be lucky to have a girlfriend as good to you as I am to Arthur.

Anything is, but I know Arthur well enough to know two things: He won't shy away from something he did/said, and he's to lazy to go back and edit them.

I can tell the difference. I read through his LJs one night, when he didn't even know I was, and I never saw ANYTHING like that. Why would he edit stuff if he didn't even know I'd be looking?

::grins:: Sorry but I had to go there, becuase his LJs were brought up and I have yet to see anything wrong with them, and I'm almost to the point where we both metn and he friended me.....

I read his LJs all before we got together and I am re-going through them now.
