[Mage: the Awakening] Legacy of the Stone Assembly

Here's a diagram of the floor you're currently on, the ground floor. More diagrams to follow as your characters go to those floors. Let me know if anything's unclear--I know it's pretty rough.

[Mage: the Awakening] Legacy of the Stone Assembly

It would be Gnosis (2) + Spirit (2) = 4. Since she's in safe territory to act mage-y, she can feel free to use High Speech and add a +1 onto it, for 5. Neither Spirit nor Death is ruling for you, so it will cost 1 point of mana. It's my impression that mages can weave a related spell into a...

[Mage: the Awakening] Legacy of the Stone Assembly

Yup. Spirit Tongue, which Gabriel and Levanna have active, is Spirit 1. The corresponding Death spell is Speak With the Dead, Death 1, so Thorn could weave Death in and have an all-purpose "See Stuff in Twilight" spell. I'm afraid you can't weave another spell into a rote. Rotes are like very...

What should be turned into a RPG?

Victoriana is basically that. I'm running a game of Victorian monster hunters with it right now, and it's a blast.

What are the most played roleplaying systems anymore?

Man, I'd love to see what kind of games are being made in Spain right now. I would give my right eye to play a game set in Sevilla during the Siglo de Oro, or something about the Reconquista.

[Mage: the Awakening] Legacy of the Stone Assembly

Just realized my mistake at the bottom of my previous post. It should be Intelligence + Occult + Density, of course. :p DERP. Have we decided on the wisdom (or un-wisdom) of Thorn's plan yet?

    Changing it up

I've wanted to do an episodic, rotating DM game for years, probably using Traveller with a "planet of the week" theme. I say go for it, if you can get a group in which everyone wants to GM.

    Guide to Adventure Writing

Teams arose because it's the easiest way to have a group of people sit at a table and play the same game at once. It's not the only way--I run my games in 3-minute scenes, going around the table for much of the evening--but it's the Gygaxian Way.

What should be turned into a RPG?

To an extent, I agree, but too often the system encourages behavior that doesn't mesh with the narrative style of the source material. I could run X-Files with d20 Modern, but d20 Modern makes it way too easy to get into a gunfight and succeed. In X-Files, guns are used for posturing and...

What should be turned into a RPG?

Sweet! Let me know how it goes. Bonus points if all the players wear lab coats!

What should be turned into a RPG?

I desperately need a game based on Science! Not "science," but "Science!" I need a game in which the players play a group of researchers who unleash science experiments gone horribly wrong that threaten the entire globe. I need a game in which the players have a supply of expendable grad...

Legacy of the Stone Assembly, Chapter I: The Cabal, The Quill, and the Concord

Spirit Tongue: Gnosis (1) + Spirit (3) = 4 dice, 2 successes Levanna's senses bloomed like a poppy flower opening in spring, and the Twilight blossomed into view. She heard, then saw, a fiery spirit haranguing Gabriel and The Nemean. The spirit caught Gabriel's glare. It paused, pouted like...

    In game romantic relationship

I know, I LOL'd. That's why I gave you XP for it! :) Definitely possible. I think women are generally more comfortable with romantic plots in our culture, so they tend to do better at making fun character choices. If a player has seen When Harry Met Sally, liked it, and thought about why...

    In game romantic relationship

HA! Yeah, the players are women, and their characters are women as well. The enchantress (Ms. Porter) didn't know that the cross-dressing woman (Mr. Breckenridge) was not a man, even a year and a half into the relationship. Decorum dictates a virtuous courtship, you know, and this is all set...

    In game romantic relationship

Kind of like that. Players in my games still do a lot of things together, but the rotation system lets them explore independently, do things of interest only to their character, or keep secrets from one another. I can have the novelist push his new book on the buried secrets of Peruvian cults...

    In game romantic relationship

Creepy. It hasn't happened at my table, but I haven't been DMing 30 years. How did you talk the awkwardly lovestruck player out of it? I agree with this, but as a GM, I think a lot of the onus to keep players from dominating a session falls to me. Balancing spotlight time is the number one...

Legacy of the Stone Assembly, Chapter I: The Cabal, The Quill, and the Concord

"Please," the spirit shrieked pitifully, "You've got to help me! The bearded one has been keeping me prisoner here for so long. Please, set me free! I'll tell you anything you want if you just set me free!"

    In game romantic relationship

:o Aw shucks. It's been a great campaign so far, and it's ending in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking of posting a "lessons learned from a good campaign" post about the game once it's over, if anyone would be interested in reading about it.

[Mage: the Awakening] Legacy of the Stone Assembly

I was under the impression that you wanted to cast a new spell with a Mind 1 element, since you said you wanted to see "the things that the mind spell lets him search for." No, because you don't know the rote. You're casting it improvised, so it's Gnosis + Prime. It should probably be Gnosis +...
