    Getting Combat Challenge More Involved

So I'm starting a group soon, and I've been playtesting for months upon months, and it seems that the fighter class feature Combat Challenge rarely gets triggered. There just never seems to be a good reason for an adjacent enemy to move away, or to attack someone else knowing he's going to get...

D&D 4E Is Essentials Compatible with Old School 4ed?

I guess I just have a problem with the Feats in Heroes of the Forgotten Lands. Like I stated in my original post: They are all rated gold on the optimization boards. HotFL feats just seem to make a lot of the original feats obsolete. I mean, sure, anyone can take them, and I guess consolidating...

D&D 4E Is Essentials Compatible with Old School 4ed?

I'm confused, because I've heard a bunch of people say they are, but then when I looked though my buddy's Essential books, briefly, it looked way different; and then on the optimization boards all the feats from Heroes of the Fallen Lands were rated gold (which are considered, must haves, or...

    D&D 4E I miss 4E

I'm not into Essentials. As far as lack of new material; they've seemed to cover so much ground already that, subjectively-speaking, I'd be really curious what other core books they could make that could even be all that interesting ; chopstick-fighter, aqua-mage? So I fine with giving them some...

Wall of Stone: Encasing an Enemy

Teleporting Through Peepholes and the Slain I'm sure there are no definitive answers to these questions, thus, i'm primarily looking for consensus. In order to teleport from point A to point B, you must have LOS to B. So, is it the case, that all you need to do is see it, even if you can...

Wall of Stone: Encasing an Enemy

Well, a square of the wall has 100 hp, so I think the 35 level god, could get through it pretty quick, but I get what you're saying. The thing is though, the power is kind of meh, especially, if outdoors, or if the ceiling is too high to trap someone in it. I mean, it's just a wall of stone...

Wall of Stone: Encasing an Enemy

Hmm. That's right. It does say it has to be on a solid surface, so it would seem that it is a "no go," by the RAW? I do think putting a lid on it is kind of cheesy, maybe if the power was called, "Blocks of Stone," or "Box of Stone" ha, then it would seem to be alright. And if the ceiling acts...

Wall of Stone: Encasing an Enemy

When using the Druid level 12 utility power, Wall of Stone, can you encase an enemy in it, that is, can you use some of the squares of the wall to effectively put a lid on the top of it? According to the authors at the optimization boards you can, but it just seems a bit counterintuitive to me...

All Bets Are Off: Secondary Attack Crit

I really dont know how I feel about it, that is, if I should let the secondary attack use the weapon's critical properties. Intuitively, I think no. Because the flavor text of this power seems to be a bit more linked with the mechanics of the power, but, then again, flavor text is meaningless...

All Bets Are Off: Secondary Attack Crit

If you score a critical with the secondary attack of All Bets Are Off, would you still use a weapon's crit properties for extra damage, or is just the 1d6 damage maximized? Is the secondary attack even a weapon attack per se? (Yes, right-unless its states otherwise?). Or are you just, like...

    Double Auto Crit?

Yes, that "instead," part "seals the deal" for me for it being a no go. Thanks for your help peoples.

    Double Auto Crit?

I see what you are saying. I'm torn too, but I am leaning towards it not being a crit. Helm of Heroes is only a 10 level item too. Thanks.

    Double Auto Crit?

If my Warlord attacks with Warlord 13, Death from Two Sides, and then uses Helm of Heroes to grant his ally a Standard Action attack as a BA, and that ally uses Pit Fighter 11, All Bets Are Off, and both my Warlord and the ally hit, thus making my ally's hit an auto crit, then only the Primary...

July Rules Update DMG: Errata needed?

    1. Awesome. That's what i've been doing for ongoing damage. I did something right! I'm so proud of myself haha. I was just a bit leary because ongoing damage is well, sometimes, ongoing more than once. But I guess I just wanted a science, in a game that's not science. But I'm content now. 2...

July Rules Update DMG: Errata needed?

Yes. I was looking at MM3 and the Creature Catalogue all night trying to figure it out, and I didn't notice any sort of methodology or unifiormity to what I'm wondering about, then I just sort of gave up and thought I'd ask you people, and try to get some sort of consensus, because I'm horrible...

Well, should they be? And, if yes, then how so?

July Rules Update DMG: Errata needed?

    1. How are attacks with ongoing damage accounted for in the new monster damage equations, or aren't they? 2. How are attacks that have nasty riders, for example, dazed, stunned, pushes, etc., (especially, multiple nasty effects) accounted for in the new monster damage equations? Or aren't they...

    Traps and the XP Budget

According to the rules, a level x trap is equivalent to a level x monster. But a lot of traps are just one-shot deals, whereas, monsters attack round by round. Right now, I'm not doing any elaborate campaigning, rather, I'm just doing a bunch of dungeon crawls with random encounters. I've been...

    Fight's Combat Challenge

CC works out so well (too well) in my group, that CC is rarely ever triggered. There never seems to be much of a good reason for an enemy to shift way, so it's kind of hard to be disgruntled about it either. But it kind of sucks, because there are some neat CC feats to choose from.
