D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

You can just go old-school and not require the cleric to follow a god, but instead a great and worthy cause. Quotes from Mentzer Basic.

    Weird character advancement idea

The idea is about an alternate way of doing "bonuses" to attribute/skill checks rather than an attempt to address all perceived flaws with advancement in a particular game. Similar to how changing the fireball spell in a game doesn't fix issues with say, magic jar or other spells in the same...

    Diablo IV

The game released on Steam yesterday. AFAIK the first Blizzard game ever to release on Steam? Any opinions why they haven't done so before and why they choose to do it now?

    Weird character advancement idea

I wrote a program that simulates rolling multiple dice and calculating the average. It gives the following results. 10.50 with 1 die 13.82 with 2 dice 15.48 with 3 dice 16.48 with 4 dice 17.15 with 5 dice Each scenario has 1 million "rolls", so a total of 1 million dice are rolled in the first...

    Weird character advancement idea

Whether HP increase or not is not really the point of this method of progression. I suppose it was my fault for mentioning it in my post. I removed HP from the examples of other advancement.

    Weird character advancement idea

I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but it's an idea, and I'd like to know what you think. Imagine a d20-based RPG where the numbers you add to the d20 roll generally do not improve as you gain levels, and this goes for monsters as well. There's no proficiency bonus or base attack bonus...

I noticed a little late there was a countdown timer, so Shadowheart had to run through dragonfire and ended up dying. But I got inside with Orpheus, Karlach and myself just in time. (Lae'zel somehow went from full HP to dead in the first turn. No idea how, but at least she killed the Emperor first)

I went straight for Minsc whenever I could, even though it meant having a mostly naked Jaheira with me. The plan was to switch him in for Karlach, but I felt bad about watching him run about in Karlach's gear so I ended up sidelining him. At the points in the game where you meet Jaheira and...

I didn’t worry about that and didn’t notice any consequence. Only thing that appeared timed was the newspapers writing about me helping solve a murder investigation, which made some random townsfolk despise me. Though they are probably intended to be Bhaal-worshippers, so I was fine with that...

Having reflected a bit on playing through the game, I seem to recall finding a dead mind flayer in the goblin lair of chapter 1 and identifying it as the one that tad-poled you.

I've been gaming since the late 80s. The most bug-ridden game I'd played before Baldur's Gate 3 was Neverwinter Nights 2 at release. Baldur's Gate 3 is about 2-3 times as bad in chapters 1-2 in terms of quantity, but fortunately the only major bug I encountered was Galen never re-appearing after...

Completed it yesterday. I think it's a potential masterpiece but it should probably have gotten an extra year of polish to get the bugs down to a somewhat reasonable level.
