    D&D 5E (2024) Nerf to magic users?

I think the 18 int discussion is a bit of a red herring. It’s not like a MU needs the higher level spells if the goal is just to beat a fighter.

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

This AI stuff keeps reminding me of this scene.

AI was at CES this year and isn't going anywhere it seems

Maybe we can get AI to help write laws for AIs before Skynet... Unless of course that was part of how Skynet comes to be o_O

    D&D 5E (2024) Nerf to magic users?

Unless the magic-user has already been fighting someone else and took a bunch of hits from that, and didn't re-cast stoneskin, the stoneskin he cast in the morning should still be active, and he wouldn't need to cast it in the middle of combat as well.

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

When AI learns the material, I'm guessing it essentially has a 1:1 copy of the material which is then stored digitally. Similar to how it is illegal to store the data of a movie you don't own. But you can still watch a movie and "store it" in your brain. Although perhaps not if you are Johnny...

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

If the bad is taking work away from the artist, then any tool that relies on machine learning would be past the line. If the bad is the AI being inspired by copyrighted work, any tool that uses machine learning to train itself on copyrighted material would be past the line.

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

So if AI can learn tasks in a new, and more efficient way than the current one, and scramble the output better (perhaps through a simulated, faulty memory), does it then become OK that it takes artists' and writers' jobs?

I'm talking about training on other authors' writing styles. Not plagiarizing.

Can we then also sue when humans train on other authors' writing styles?

Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

At last finished this bulette. Messed up its back a bit with some green stuff. I would have liked the tongue to be brighter, but didn't want to mess with it after having painted the rest of the model.

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

I’m not sure how fulfilling it would be to have an unnecessary job function only because others feel sorry for you. Seems like they could just give you money at that point and leave you to enjoy your hobbies or learn another trade.

    D&D General Plagiarised D&D art

I'm sure eventually AI will be able to get inspiration through other forms of data, such as by looking at nature, reading books or watching movies, opening it to a similar breadth of input humans use to create art. Perhaps at some point we as a society may need to draw a line for when a machine...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

My players are getting close to ending our current campaign. The next adventure I'm running is Curse of the Azure Bonds, an old AD&D module. It takes place in the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms. I had Bing Create generate images for some notable Dalelands locations they might pass through...
