Yes, but - apart from the fact that there is a ton of errata which was never included - the new layout is a blight upon the eyes. In other reprints (like the 1e PHB) WotC went with an older version, so I0m not sure why they went with that route with 2e.

TSR had clearly decided that the new version of the PHB had superseded the previous one. However, when the scanning program began, they first used the original (and IMO much better) version. I've always been disappointed that WotC went with the revised layout when they made the anniversary...

Considering what a horrible and extremely dangerous person Musk is, his idiotic statements about WotC rank pretty low in my list of things that I despise about him.

The first released PDF for the 2e PHB was actually the old layout. I bought my copy from Paizo's webstore in 2005.

That's typical of the FF books, at least the early ones, which are the ones that I played back then. They are very deadly and unforgiving and, unless you are incredibly lucky, they do require multiple attempts.
