Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

Does teleporting provoke an opportunity attack? If not then a cool tactic that came to mind was a charge and then a teleport in order to attack and then disengage right away. This causes the PC to either move to engage the target, which if the PC fails to kill could then just teleport away...

I dont see anything wrong with that as long as its just a few levels.

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

Remember, just because a power misses, it doesnt mean that it cant kill a minion. There are 3 stages to an attack after the actual attack roll. Hit, Miss, and Effect. If the effect part of a power did damage, that is, the part of the power that occurs whether the power hits or misses, I would...

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

And then its like the minions never existed and you might as well have just given the PCs the XP instead of having the wizard waste a power.

IMO if a miss would not normally kill a monster of comparable level it should not kill a minion.

    Question on the KoS Characters

Youre right, my bad. Anyways after double checking the PrRC a Longsword has a +3 proficiency, so that makes it +4 STR, +3 Prof. As for the save, it deffinatly doesnt sound very palain like. However even if you say that the sheet is missing the +1 for Fort and Will, how does it get to 12 for...

    Question on the KoS Characters

    1) stated above 2) +4 STR, +2 Proficiency, +1 Versatile (assuming he is using it two handed) 3) Fort: 10 + 4 STR, Ref: 10 + 2 Paladin, Will: 10 + 3 CHA EDIT: EIther a Palidin gets +2 to Ref, KotS is wrong, or the PrRC is wrong.

    KotS FAQ up at WotC

So you think they should have listed every single class's at will power? Why not just throwing the rest of the PHB as well? They were trying to go for a pick up and play, no modifying what so ever, sort of experience. Including a power that says "choose" and then not being able to choose IMO...

Excerpt: You and Your Magic Items

Given that selling or disenchanting an item essentially drops it by 5 levels, magic items are essentially gifts. Adventuring and getting higher level items that the DM gives you is the most effective way to get high powered items. Not keeping those items and selling by default would mean that...

Minions are alien visitors from another kind of game

Which is why there shouldnt ever be just minions. If 20 guys come at you and 18 dies from your AOE then its obvious. But if 16 guys come at you and only 10 die you are still going to have a problem on your hands. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ex/20080414a

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

You may be able to find a buyer in the modern economy, but go to any country that still lives off the land as is the base in D&D and its a different story. Its the same concept. A Royce is about as useful and as rare to a "commoner" of a "poor" country as a magic item would be to a the general...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

The only issue I see from reading the article is that unless you deliberately fudge the monster treasure, PCs wont be able to acquire specific items that are above their level.

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

They do have a high resale value, hence the 10%-40% mark up. The problem is that you generally wont be able to find anyone who would be willing to pay that much. The highest you will generally be able to get is 20% from a merchant. The reason why he doesnt offer more is because he is taking a...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

I dont see your point. Just because something is rare and hard to acquire, doesnt mean that there is a large market for it. Magic items are specialty items. Very few people will actually buy magic items. Therefor if the PCs cant find another purchaser of magic items they have to go to the...

    Excerpt: Economies [merged]

Its supply and demand. There isnt much demand for magic items in the general world, so you arent going to get much for it. On the other hand if you can find someone who does want a magic item odds are they can pay, and therefor will pay a significant price for it. If the party can find...
