A Dungeon Tile for the Alabaster Throne

There are a ton of great dungeon tiles floating around, both free and commercial. I'm looking for one that I can use for Wolfgang Baur's classic 2e "Kingdom of the Ghouls" adventure. Here's a description of what I'm looking for: Anyone know of a suitable tile?

Mongoose's New IP: Traveller is BACK

I am rather ambivalent about this news. On one hand, in the abstract I am always psyched to see another classic RPG system become open, as with RuneQuest. This is a very cool move by Mongoose. But on the other hand, I was very disappointed by Mongoose's first round of RuneQuest products, so I...

Mongoose's New IP: Traveller is BACK

Your wariness was certainly warranted (I can add Chaosiums' awful "Dragonlords of Melnibone" to the pile of failures), but T20 was, IMHO, a rather successful d20 conversion. And T20 was one of the very first games to win that distinction.

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

Certainly sounds like an Outsider (extraplanar, evil, incorporeal) to me. Just aren't enough non-undead incorporeal creatures around.

Mongoose's new RPG License - speculation?

I would guess it would be, in the style of RuneQuest, an open take on the classic Traveller or maybe MegaTraveller systems. It would be nice to have an open version of CT floating around. The only thing I could think of that would argue against this would be the (supposedly) imminent release of...

    MM V question

Similar templated abilities (I think these were quietly introduced in MMIV, maybe earlier): Aligned strike (XX) where XX is the alignment type that the natural weapons strike as. Demons, for example, would have aligned strike (chaos, evil). Metal strike (XX) which allows the natural weapons to...

    MM V question

It's just the ability to attack as if the creature's natural weapons were magical. A highly useful mechanic, IMHO.

    Fiendish Codex III: Yugoloths poll

I guess I'm really a dissenting voice, here: I never really cared much for yugoloths *, even when they were called daemons, except for a minor nostalgic fondness for nycadaemons and mezzodaemons thanks to Vault of the Drow and my 1e Fiend Folio. I have just never seen the burning need for a...

    RuneQuest Deluxe

I would definitely look at getting the second printing of this book.

    Kobold Quarterly: Issue 1

I read about half of the first issue last night, and it's pretty darn good -- way above my expectations, really. The Mona interview is great, and the "Ecology of the Derro" has some sweet little crunchy bits I'll try to work into my game soon. I would expect the proofreading to get better as...

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Nightwing's Drain Magic Ability

To me, this interpretation makes the most mechanical sense and was what I was going to use in my own game.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Nightwing's Drain Magic Ability

The ability does have a save. If it is the first option, the ability seems a little unnecessarily complicated, requiring an attack + touch attack + saving throw to resolve.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Nightwing's Drain Magic Ability

The nightwing's bite attack was something of a mystery in 3.0: it did damage and also delivered some kind of a transform ability. Unfortunately, as far as I know this transform ability was never described or removed in errata. In 3.5 the transform ability disappeared. The nightwing's bite...

    WHITE DWARF Magazine monster index

Excellent -- thanks again for reviewing this; you've found a couple of edits I know I made but were lost in the server crash, pointed out a few I'm sure I didn't ever make, and found a whole bunch of monsters in the later issues I don't own. Teamwork is awesome.

    Unconverted White Dwarf creatures

Yeah, nighttide dancer = shadow dancer. I altered the name only to avoid confusion with the prestige class.

    Unconverted White Dwarf creatures

Games Workshop is listed as the copyright holder for most (all?) of the issues I have, but I think the legal disposition is a bit more complicated than that and possibly a serious muddle. WD started as a fanzine, was for a time associated with TSR in a special relationship, and then published...

    Unconverted White Dwarf creatures

For what it's worth, I did a conversion of the nandie and nandie bear in my 3.5e adaption of The Halls of Tizun Thane.

Is this "brothers of the pine" different from the one way back in issue 21?
