Pathfinder 1E Ryan Dancey Predicts Pathfinder RPG in '06

I don't think 4e was intentionally designed to be so different as to be incompatible with previous editions, which is what Ryan describes. I suspect that the 4e designers were given fairly free reign to kill sacred cows if it made for a better game, but I'm pretty sure they weren't issued an...

    Special Conversion Thread: Moldvay's Undead

Great thread! I haven't been around EN World much for a while now (lots of reasons, mostly 4e malaise). Nice to swing by and see such coolness. For the curious, I've done conversions of a couple Moldvay undead: Charuntes Skotos

Nick Logue and Wolfgang Baur drink The Blood of the Gorgon together!

Basic, which is why I am uncertain if I should or shouldn't be seeing anything at this point.

Book of the Righteous-- help me stick with it...

What about second glance? I *thought* one the of selling points of the book was it had an unprecedented amount of OGC, but I might have that totally wrong.

Book of the Righteous-- help me stick with it...

I agree completely. If I were gonna design D&D 3.75, I'd jettison the paladin and use the holy warrior instead. And GR has updated the class to 3.5.

Book of the Righteous-- help me stick with it...

This book had an interesting history. Back at the height of the d20 craze, when books were coming out so fast that no one person could keep up with it all, the EN World review section played a vital role in helping me get a handle on all of the releases. The section ranked by review ratings...

Nick Logue and Wolfgang Baur drink The Blood of the Gorgon together!

I signed up last week, but can't seem to see any Gorgon posts -- and it sounds like there are already some up?

NEWS: OGL and SRD dates/info announced

Bingo. Converting 1e and OD&D materials taught me a tremendous amount about 3e monster design.

NEWS: OGL and SRD dates/info announced

I think people are forgetting that many (most?) of the junk products that came out of the gate at the dawn of 3e were actually often from the larger, more established game companies. I say this as the still-pissed owner of the sucktastic "Dragonlords of Melnibone." And some of the better...

    Using cards to replace dice

This basic idea -- and I think it's a pretty nifty one -- is outlined in Green Ronin's Advanced Gamemaster's Manual. An added twist is that all players and the DM are given 5 cards at a time, allowing each person to choose when to play high cards and low cards. When all 5 are played, the...

    Best OGL Monster Books

I think the Tome of Horrors and Advanced Bestiary, which you've already mentioned, form the core of the OGL monster canon. If you like to make new monsters, Expeditious Retreat's Monster Builder book is the best toolkit out there. If you like to modify existing monster, FFG's Monster's...

OK, we're gettng a little annoyed here!

Ah, memories. I had forgotten a couple of those names, and your post made me recall a number of other choice former posters as well as some really radioactive threads from those antediluvian days. So, yeah, sure there were some real assmunches posting back in the day, and for that matter there...

OK, we're gettng a little annoyed here!

You know, the image in my head of this site's Grandma was always one of those sweet, unbelievably polite midwestern grandmothers. The kind of lady who would look at the floor in silent embarrassment if you said something rude at the dinner table. The potential shame of hurting her feelings is...

OK, we're gettng a little annoyed here!

I really think Wulf is on to something here, though I don't think it offers a solution for ENWorld. Up until six months ago, I have never really understood the purpose of all the Nutkinland/Nothingland/Circvs Maximvs variants. Over the years I've checked them all out, sampled a few threads, but...

    Green Ronin's Trojan War Setting

Yeah, I think a review would be in order. I ordered Trojan War last week -- based on my own love for Testament. Unfortunately, I think the TW was one of many d20 supplements that never seemed to gather much attention. Maybe the great Green Ronin sell-off will generate new interest.

    D&D 4E 4e - Too much change?

I think this last round of news really challenges my status as a card-carrying 4e Agnostic. Although Umbran is right to note that we are trying to evaluate things without proper context -- and, as with 3e, we should be taking every bit of news with a heaping sack of salt -- on the other hand...

Adding another log. Lightning Panther Strike.

Either you've never done a lot of work with large manuscripts, or you've never had the misfortune to come across a book that had been mangled by a "simple" Find-Replace function. (Check out the first Mongoose Conan book if you want to see an example.) In either case, unless you are only changing...

Adding another log. Lightning Panther Strike.

If Wizards had changed the names (which would have been a significant effort), wouldn't we have already heard about it? So in the absence of some announcement like that, wouldn't the most logical -- nay, rational -- conclusion also be the simplest: to assume that Wizards hasn't changed the names?
