    D&D 3.x 4E reminded me how much I like 3E

Well, trying to keep it on topic, my list of what I like about 3E is simple. 1. I like everything about the game as long as I don't have to run it. That being said, both 4E and C&C are my current faves to run. Though the Pathfinder RPG is trying to make things easier on game masters. So I have...

    D&D needs to grow up

Considering the premier Fourth Edition issue of Dragon has a demon worshiping Gnoll, who kills her mother(matricide), takes her father as her mate(incest), then kills him and uses his gooey gooey insides for divination(patricide). I would have to say, "no", it hasn't stepped back from anything...

    Expeditionary Dispatches: Dolurrh's Dawn

I think he was referring to the village concept as a whole. You have to admit, a village filled with these unusual people is cool and has plenty of story possibilities.

    Dark Knight

Such a good movie. This film will stand as the benchmark for all future comic book movies. And for 4E D&D players: If someone asks why Chaotic Evil is set apart from Evil, this Joker is why. He's frightening in a way that regular old evil just isn't, and can never be.

    Dragon 365 - Backdrop: Cormyr

Excellent article. One of the best ideas WOTC has had in the past couple of years was to have Brian R. James write for them. He has a way of giving the article a great deal of depth and history, despite the fact that it deals with the current state of Cormyr. I'm hoping the Campaign Setting...

    Ecology of the Dragonborn up

Good article, and may I say that the "young dragonborn training" picture, is excellent. It's so good, that it's the first piece of 4e art that has made me want to play a dragonborn. :)

Default "PoL" Setting - Setting Info Compilation (Now Wikified!)

A touch of Madness also contains the area surrounding the town of Wellspring. Though it was written for 3.5, it's going to be updated to Fourth Edition.

Grand History of the Realm 4th edition?

I've actually decided to use the Old Grey Box as a base for my first 4E campaign. There will be a few changes of course. Mostly using the new 4E planes setup, which not only do I prefer, but won't have that much of an impact on the how the Realms were originally described. Like you Fenes, I'm...

You reap what you sow - GSL.

I think it's more a way of convincing the higher ups that alternate player's handbooks were good for the company. Look at World of Warcraft, it's first edition required Player's Handbook, the second edition ditched it entirely. A hot property that required WOTC products is a win, a hot product...

    Nonlethal / subdual damage

Seems like it would just be easy to tell the DM beforehand if you're only trying to subdue him. Then whenever the killing blow lands everyone at the table knows he's only knocked out. This kind of thing is usually discussed by players during battles anyway: "Make sure you don't kill that one...

4ed PDFs - Are you still getting the books?

PDF's are fine, but nothing beats a physical book for me. Also, there's no such thing as a "new PDF smell". I know I can't be the only one who enjoys the smell of new rulebooks. :D

    The troll art is up

These trolls, along with the angels are both monsters I'm glad they kept working on. The final versions are much better than the preview ones.

What is the FONT they are using in KotS?

It's not too bad. Now, when you actually start looking at fonts and thinking that some of the better ones are "sexy", then you're in trouble. ;)

    Aaron's Mealmaker List

They really aren't that filling, considering their main diet consists of top ramen.

Is it me, or does the white dragon have a real thin layer of fur on it? If it is fur, it's unusual and wouldn't work for most other dragons, but it works for the white one. :)

    Daily Art Preview

The Balor is nice. He actually looks pretty close to the 3.5 depiction, though I was hoping they'd try something new. Can't have everything though. :( Still, it's a nice piece of art.

    Gods...

Io is the creator of Dragonkind, he was sliced in half during the war with the primordials. One part of him became Bahamut, and the other part became Tiamat.

    Gods...

Maybe the plus one refers to Io. Sure he's dead, but there may still be people worshiping him. Though Orcus being the plus one wouldn't surprise me. Also it's mentioned in Worlds & Monsters that Correllon got music added to his portfolio. It should be interesting to see what other non...

Is it me, or does that tarrasque look rather happy go lucky? There's just something about him that looks pleased. Anyways, it's a good picture. :D

    Sequels to Successes

It's interesting from a music and movie point of view, BUT and here's the key - the closest thing to compare D&D to out of entertainment is electronic gaming. And in the case of games, well they don't have the same problem pulling off great sequels as other mediums. In fact, a good franchise...
