Slow, haste, and boots of speed.

Okay, lets say the PC's are all standing no more then 30ft apart (the distance of slow). There are 3 PC's - a wizard with the haste spell cast, a fighter with activated boots of speed, and a rogue who is normal for now but who has a backup potion of haste. The enemy wizard cast slow which...

DM's. To sunder or not to sunder?

Yeah, but that's a 9th level spell and they're only 5th level PC's. That's kind of harsh. I prefer the Earth elem route.

    Brilliant Energy and Heavy Fortification.

Does brilliant energy weapon bypass just the armor class of the armor, or does it bypass magic bonus's such as heavy fortification? IE, will a brilliant energy scythe or rapier still score crits/sneak attacks?

DM's. To sunder or not to sunder?

Good points, sunder is a very good tactic, but so is just doing damage. I didn't want to just create a 6th level fighter with a +2 greatsword and start breaking weapons for two rounds. It's the perfect tactic for a creature with DR though, but I didn't know if PC's took it badly or not.

DM's. To sunder or not to sunder?

Do you sunder? How do your players react? Lets say my PC's are facing a Huge Earth Elem with damage reduction 10/+2 and he has the sunder feat (as per MM), if you start snapping weapons in half in order to make it hard for them to damage you do the PC's take it personally? I've never used...

    Monster Stat block generators

Anyone know of any websites that have stat blocks of various monsters like Zombies? I was printing up some cheat-sheets for a module I'll be running and wanted some stat blocks to cut and paste.

Interrupting a spell impossible w/Core rules?

This is wrong though. Wear a chain shirt and your movement is equal, now if he moves you can partial charge and still hit him. You'd actually get an AO, and also a readied action to hit him.

Interrupting a spell impossible w/Core rules?

Well, if you're relying on mobility for your tactics you shouldn't wear medium or heavy armor.

    Cleave and AoO

I allow it in some situations and not in others. If 5 guys run past the fighter in a hallway I'd let him use cleave. If bob the wizard casts and gets killed he can't use it against joe the fighter standing next to him. It's not hard and fast, but it works for me. By the rules it says...

Interrupting a spell impossible w/Core rules?

Shooting him with an arrow as he's casting will still interupt it. 10 + damage dealt + spell level. So if it's a 1st level spell that's DC12-19 Not bad for 1st level.

Interrupting a spell impossible w/Core rules?

Use the AO to grapple, trip, etc instead of damage. That will prevent him from leaving very effectively. Wear light armor - sometimes the movement is worth the lower AC. If you have 12 dex this might not work. Wait around the corner for the wizard, that works too. Getting an AO isn't...

    Goblin Cavalry on Worgs

Sure, what level do you want them at? I don't have the skills perfectly done due to multiclassing confusion, etc but they're about right. Send me an email and I can get you the stat blocks. For those and other random encounters I've been designing.

    Question on Magic Item Creation

As long as someone is there to cast it a Mage can make an amulet of nat armor. Someone needs to be there to cast those spells every day though. There are a few items in the DMG that require both a wizard and a Sorceror's spell list to create. I assume this is how they do it.

    Goblin Cavalry on Worgs

Here is a 4th level broken saddle member: Broken Saddle Clan, male goblin Bbn2/Ftr2: CR 3; ECL 4; Small Humanoid (goblinoid); HD 2d10+2d12+4; hp 28; Init +3; Spd 30 ft; AC 14 (+3 Dex, +1 size); Melee mw light lance +9 (1d6+2/crit x3), or mw light flail +8 (1d8+2); Ranged mw shortbow +9...

    Goblin Cavalry on Worgs

Here is how I'll probably do it. With ride by it's fairly obvious that the worg doesn't attack, so that's normal. Charging with lance: lance attacks, worg attacks, do trip manuver Already in melee and just manuvering: worg attacks, then goblin goes and tries to bash in his skull with the...

Can lances be used when not mounted?

Can you use a lance if you're not mounted? Since it has reach anyone attacking you while you're mounted would take an AO right?

    Goblin Cavalry on Worgs

It's not much paperwork, levels are easy to tack on. Well, at 2nd level they'll be bbn1/ftr1's and have spirited charge, at 3rd weapon focus lance, 4th is improved init. 6th is Iron Will, 8th is weapon spec lance, 9th is improved crit lance I have them in stat-block format all the way to 6th...

    Goblin Cavalry on Worgs

Okay, lets say that the Broken Saddle Clan has a group of Goblin Raiders fiercely devoted to mounted combat on their highly trained Worgs. They equip themselves with light flails, light lances, and some shortbows, military saddles, etc. For my campaign they're going to be bbn/ftr's at even...

    Mounted combat

That's what the stay in the saddle check is for. A DC5 is pathetic though, a 16 dex rogue with a military saddle will always make that check. But I think it's supposed to be rare to fall from the horse. If I were to house-rule it I'd make it a DC of damage dealt if you want something...

    Mounted combat

(*)Ride (DEX) When the character selects this skill, choose the type of mount the character is familiar with. For this purpose, "horses" includes mules, donkeys, and ponies. If the character uses the skill with a different mount (such as riding a giant lizard when the character is used to...
