    D&D 5E (2014) No Magic Shops!

Money sink implies that money is simply being bled away at no benefit. Magic items, retainers and strongholds are very real benefits to characters. And, if you're going to let characters purchase those benefits it wouldn't hurt to have good pricing for them based on how much benefit is...

    D&D 5E (2014) No Magic Shops!

Right there. That's the part that proves you don't understand what I mean by a magic item being special. It's not just that it does +1d6 to plant creatures (and also to elves and fey). It's that the item has character. The bonus given by the item is evocative of the weapon, its history and...

    D&D 5E (2014) No Magic Shops!

Ah, then you probably can't answer my question because you define a magic item being special by a different metric than I do. Rarity is not specialness to me; it's false or manufactured specialness. An item is special to me if it has character. A +1 sword that's the only +1 sword in the whole...

    D&D 5E (2014) No Magic Shops!

Can you please elaborate on how, apart from them being rare finds, +X items are made to feel special at your table?

    D&D 5E (2014) No Magic Shops!

Not to split hairs, but there is a difference between an item feeling special and being excited you have a more powerful magic item. What you appeared to describe is the latter. However, most +X items are given remarkably little character. Apart from simply being inherently better from a...

Depends on the item. +X items still don't feel special.

D&D 5E (2014) 2 PC Wizards Copying Each others spell books

I don't have a quote and page citation for you, but I believe the general thought on this issue is that wizards jealously guard their secrets from other wizards. This makes two PC wizards who're friendly enough to share spells an exception to the way the world normally works.

    D&D 5E (2014) Homebrewing Humans

One of my homebrew settings (Tenesia) uses a homebrew variant human. I've posted it here and gotten some nice compliments on it. Maybe this, or something similar, might work for you.

    D&D 5E (2014) Flying Races: Limiting Flight

I think the 15' of height assumes the character can make hard turns that would require the character's wings be perpendicular to the ground. I don't worry about that. For me, as long as the character can fully extend her wings (and I assume a 15' wingspan for a medium-sized character) she can fly.

    Star Trek rated R

Yeah. But, Django and The Hateful Eight had scenes where it literally looked like someone was off-camera and threw an actual bucket of fake blood at an actor, or at a wall.

    Star Trek rated R

His recent western movies have really overdone the blood. Django and The Hateful Eight had buckets of blood everywhere. I don't know if that's a growing trend for him, or if he just considers that part of the western genre.

    Star Trek rated R

I've always wanted to see a Star Trek movie or series set on Earth during the Eugenics wars. Maybe Tarrantino could pull that off.

D&D 5E (2014) An additional component for Resurrection

That's the case in my homebrew setting of Tenesia as well. The gods get their power from the souls they hold, and if you want one back you have to give them one in exchange (except for elves who just can't be raised because their souls become one with nature itself when they die).

D&D 5E (2014) What makes your homebrew setting special?

It depends on which setting, because I have two of them: Tenesia and Wildwood. Tenesia Tenesia's primary theme is that of difference. Elves, Dwarves, Merfolk, Ophiliths (medusas), Slimes, etc. are immortal races created by the gods: Humans and Goblins evolved from apes and lizards...

D&D 5E (2014) Reliable Talent. What the what?

So you aren't talking about resources. You're talking about a specific class of resources: those that refresh based on short or long rests.

D&D 5E (2014) Reliable Talent. What the what?

Just because the character isn't expending a resource limited in per day uses doesn't mean no resource has been expended. The number of skills you can choose to have expertise apply to is a resource. Using ASIs to boost your skill-influencing stats is a resource. The rogue in question appears...

Unearthed Arcana Four New Elf Subraces in Unearthed Arcana

Yes and no. Yes, because DM's can make their worlds be whatever they want. No, because if "culture depends on the DM's world" were actually applied then none of the races or subraces in the PHB would have any culture descriptions. Either culture depends on the DM's world, and none of the...

Unearthed Arcana Four New Elf Subraces in Unearthed Arcana

I didn't say they had to write 5-10 pages about it. I just said they needed to have a significant cultural difference. There should be something in the subrace that actually justifies its existence as more than a bag of alternate mechanics.

Unearthed Arcana Four New Elf Subraces in Unearthed Arcana

Sure, but they should give us some significant cultural difference to enhance the roleplaying aspect of the subraces as well, instead of just altering the mechanics and slapping a "_____ Elf" sticker on it.
