    Battlefields versus the 5' dungeon.

We follow this method in games we play. We just just a grid board to know generally how far we can move in main directions. I hate how DnD turned into chess with ridiculous rules by keeping movement to squares... Ugh.

    Bear psychology question

A bear would continue to thrash and annihilate the target until distracted by another combatant(ie attacked.). Animals maul/gore in response to being threatened an will go way beyond just knocking someone down. They are instinct when it comes to violence.

Things to Talk To in the Dungeon

You don't always have to fight or kill monsters. You can negotiate, trick, or just talk to them.

Do "old school" RPGers have an advantage?

I've been DM/GMing since around 1997 with 2nd edition Shadowrun. I played AD&D once or twice with a buddy DMing back in the early 90s, and he was so bad at it that I really didn't play any form of D&D until 2000ish when 3rd came out. Even then the DM was so bad that it wasn't fun at all to me...

What would happen in your game?

The paladin points out to the nearest patrons the wickedness of consumption and joining in on lude behavior. The rogue steals a few coins left on a table for a tip and buys a drink with it. The wizard sits at the bar, brushes the dust, crumbs and spiderwebs from the decor and places them into...

    How did you get started?

My real first sci-fi purchase was actually two books, "the Martian chronicles" by Bradbury and "war of the worlds" by Wells. I remember even then, at 7, being disappointed with the ending of war. I did like the Martian chronicles though. The next book I bought was "I robot" by Asimov. Loved it.

    Sci-fi RPGs

Alternity is where I'd go for mass effect style. You got the technology, the psychic stuff and it is completely original. You reall only need the dmg, phb, star drive monsters and equipment books and your set.
