    [OT] help with Aquarium

I suspect that this is likely a fresh water tank - but I agree, the coraline algea usually covers up pretty much anything....

    [OT] help with Aquarium

The issue (I hope) is that the stains are on the outside of the tank. If they are on the inside - you need to be especially carefull about what chemicals you use - (there is some leaway here - depending on the tank) but in general, you really do not want to use anything other than water and...

    I want more Vile!

Let me ask this - what new Vile content are you looking for? As Johsua mentioned, they have done a pretty good job of setting the table, and it most likely will fall to the d20 publishers and DMs to flush things out.

    [OT] help with Aquarium

Don't go the acid route - obviously you do not want to do anything to weaken the glass - and the acid will end up frosting the glass anyway. How bad are the stains? I ask because painting over them should accomplish what you are after. Other than that the only thing I can suggest is more CLR...

    Help playing a one-armed character

Obviously from a "rules" perspective - there is no impact. I think that there is a magic item that you can graft on to your arm to replace lost limbs

    Alcolyte of the Fist

Where is this prestige class located - my feeble brain has failed me on this one.....

    Characters made only for combat

Actually Bagpuss, DocM is not questioning your character concept - he was questioning your math - which he was correct. If you as a player are willing to accept the penalties of your stat allocation, I do not think that anyone has an issue with it. Where we get into problems is the subjective...

How bad is an 8 in an ability score?

You are right - I was the one that suggested that the standard deviation was about 2 - when actuality it is closer to 3 (about 2.9) Further, the percentage of people how represent the 8-12 range = 60% of the overall population - or 125 rolls out of 216 possible This means that 20% of the...

How bad is an 8 in an ability score?

Actually, if I recall my statistics correctly - for a 3d6 generation the 1st standard deviation is around 2 (IIRC 1.7) making a 8 fall outside of what we would cosider the "norm" But you are correct is saying that the skill impact of an 8 is a 5% depreciation in any skill based off of that...

How bad is an 8 in an ability score?

The reason that 8 is percieved as potentailly bad is that 3ed has defined 10 as the average for humans. So an 8 is 20% less than the average human and a 20% hit is a fairly sizable reduction.

At what age did you start gaming?

It really depends on how you define play.... At age 9, I bought the Monster Manual (1ed) At age 10 I was actually playing - but the sort of playing that involved 1st level characters killing Tiamat - I simply did not understand the rules I would say the first time I really "played" was 14 or...

How bad is an 8 in an ability score?

To me (in a broad term) an 8 means a noticable handicap - but not severe. That individual is capable of interacting with society in general. a 6 means a severe handicap - they are incapable of interacting with society without some level of help. a 4 is a debilitating handicap and the need...

    Characters made only for combat

Really what this comes down to is: Does DocM beleive that haggleing is a non-roled or rolled "encounter"? If it is rolled, the PC's negative is already facored in (-1) to whatever you decide is used for negotiation. If it is non-rolled, the negative must be applied somewhat arbitrarily -...

    Characters made only for combat

Now this is certainly not fair -- and quite frankly sounds like a double standard - after all the Bard "deals with his choices" everytime they swing a sword!!!! Further, I would hope the Bard realizes that they are not combat monsters and stays way the heck away from the actual fighting -...

    Characters made only for combat

I do not necessarily think that is true - after all, what do you think Homer Simpson's Charisma is - and he is one giant Sucker. Further, an 8 charisma could represent many things - like that man is creepy or he is just different.....All which would lead to negative reactions from people -...

awful green things from outer space- a replacement?

Two additional Cheapass games that I have somewhat enjoyed: Kill Dr. Lucky (I have not played Save Dr. Lucky) Unexploded Cow Again, for 4 bucks, it is really hard to argue with any Cheapass game... They are quick, easy to learn and overall fairly enjoyable -very much in line with AGTFOS

    [Dragon] Lord, the cheese...

Fenzer, I agree wholeheartedly - it is not so much that it is porn - but rather, an effort (perhaps misguided) to delay exposure to more mature topics. These include violence, sexual images, language, etc. Fundamentally, I go through the same process for all entertainment, be it movies...

    The problem of saves.

You know I can't remember the frequency either - I just thought that it was more ofter - of course it is probably different for the Americans than for the Aussies. After all the Americans were far from the sea and located in mountains - both which seemed to dilute the effects of the call.

    Raise Dead Questions?

IMC, NPC of different faiths can certainly be persuaded to raise non-follower - for the right price - a sizable donation perhaps combined with a diplomacy check certainly loosens the npcs up. After all churches have expenses and a 1000gp donation in addition to the cost of the spell is a...
