    Next environmental supplement?

Neither me nor my friends bought any of them. They looked o.k., but there was little in there that we hadn't already come up with in one form or another. Now, if they had put out a generic book on the underdark, that would have been different...

Orange County/Long Beach campaigns seek Greyhawk faithful

Hey there, fellow gamers, We're looking to round out our groups with some experienced and mature players who are familiar with the Greyhawk setting, enjoy a bit of light-hearted banter, and live to roll the d20. Most of us are in our twenties to our thirties and we'll take anyone who falls...

Do you still feel the wonder you had in your childhood games?

Over explanation of a system or its rules tends to kill it for me. Arguments about such systems tends to do it. Meta-gaming any creature or situation tends to do it. In our quest to backseat DM a game, we tend to kill it with our shiny wisdom and application thereof. I prefer to sit back and...

    Cleaning a Battlemat

I don't know of any cleaning methods to use once the mat is stained. All I can say is clean your mat as soon as the combat is over, don't leave it lying out overnight. You might wanna avoid those red and blue pens in the future, too.

Is advancement in 3.X D&D too SLOW?

My players don't level up that often. Sometimes it's 3-4 sessions between leveling up, but more likely 4-5 sessions.

    Dragon 334, Malhavoc's Surprise = Ptolus

If it's going to be Planescape, then then I suspect the following scenario unfolded: BCD was a test balloon, but one cleverly disguised as a reunion of the Planescape crew. When all the pieces were in place (basically, getting all the writers to commit to the project), Monte sold the idea to...

    Dragon 334, Malhavoc's Surprise = Ptolus

Monte's been freelancing for Wotc, albeit under strict secrecy. I'm guessing that the product will be related to the current edition, but will be setting specific, most likely Planescape or Greyhawk.

    The purpose of D&D's evolution?

An idealist looks upon the desire for material wealth as cynicism. A realist calls it pragmatism. I don't put much faith in absolutes, but I would say the evolution of this game reflects a variety of motivations.

Angelfire at Origins: pictures of all 60 minis

Wow, the first set in which only one (or maybe two) are worth buying. Guess I'm off to eBay...

    Magic of incarnum

Can't say this one has grabbed my interest; I'm already up to my ears in spells, spellcasting classes, and metamagic, so this book would have to be the end-all be-all of magic before I shell out the money for it. But then, I suspect it will grab a number of players in light of the inevitable...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Hello, Gary, I hope all is well with you. I have a few Arneson related questions if you don't mind. I'm curious if you've had a chance to check out Dave Arneson's recent rerelease of the Blackmoor campaign and, if so, what you think of it. There is also a release of Castle Blackmoor scheduled...

Top 10 Reasons to Take 20 Levels in A Base Class

LOL! I'm not a big fan of multi-classing, either; I'm more 1e than I let on.

    D&D Goes International

D&D in Japan... 1) PCs must take off their shoes before entering the dungeon. 2) PCs must apologize to the BBEG before and after attacking him (usually to his corpse in the latter case) 3) No action may be taken by a party until a lengthy subtle discussion as to the general feeling of the...

What would you like to see dropped from Dungeon?

Downer's cool, so keep it. The art is rockin' and it presents all kinds of story ideas despite its own apparent lack of one.

    To give it all up

Sounds like the DM (and the othjer players) are using the guy as an excuse to reset the campaign; otherwise, yes, it's a pretty lame move.
