    Playtest Feedback 5/20

I suppose you could, after Starting Tier, continue to assign a d6 as an exploder but roll it in excess of your actual roll and use it to determine exploding. Example- You attack with a 4d8 pool. You roll 4d8 + 1d6. The rolls come back as : d8 = 2, 3, 6, 7 d6 = 6 You exploded. So now you...

    Playtest Feedback 5/20

The game consisted of a gunfight and a starship battle. Unlike prior starship encounters, this one featured large ships and the PCs were not intended to simply survive but rather stay and fight. General Feedback & Questions The increased defenses were well received and the small boost seemed...

    N.E.W. Starship Construction Guide

Here's a Durog battleship w/concept art! - the component parts are all standard from the chapter although I've renamed them (and changed the damage type for weapons) - this beast costs 46,615.75MCr although 40k of that is from the cloak. Deviations from the Rules The Durog are religious...

    Custom Race (Mek)

Not really. The Mek character in my game has worked out pretty much like all the others. At some point the careers will need to be reworked to align w/the latest skill rules (when this race was created there was no limit on selecting the same skill multiple times each career and/or each rank).

    Linguistics / Languages

I have to get in the habit of letting untrained checks stand-in when there is no one w/a trained skill. We've been having the only character w/linguistics make checks to understand other languages. Didn't set an actual DC, tend to call it on the fly.

Let me expand on this thought a little bit. With the skills varying so widely at present, it can be difficult to properly balance some encounters. If I know the skills on my players sheets, I can go out of my way to avoid building an encounter they cannot possibly succeed at, but if I do not...

Like the sound of that. Makes it pretty easy to remember during play also. Nobody has claimed that extra die bonus yet so either they missed it or they don't see a way to apply it in-game (the guy w/Grumpy might have a hard time claiming that bonus, for example). You may want to consider...

    Playtest Feedback 4/29

Last night's game included a mixture of combat (two encounters), sneaking about, lots of discussion and a little bit of luck. Combat I am inclined to think that defenses are perhaps a little bit too low - particularly when dealing with a creature larger than Medium, the defense numbers fall...

    Degrees of success

Of note, we did a chase last week and these rules worked out pretty well. The pool started at 10 and had to get to 30 for the PCs to 'win'. The opponent was shooting at them and reduced the number by the amount of damage done each round (instead of damage). Countdowns are different though...

    Degrees of success

Pretty sure that is what it means. If you read the rules on chases, pg 88 of the N.E.W. game, you'll see this:

    Monsters (Custom)

Was just reading through the thread but wanted to make sure I was understanding it rightly as that's a big departure from the older numbers (I'm too used to seeing 1, 2, 4 or 12 for XP values :)).

    Monsters (Custom)

Sure thing, drop me an email or a PM anytime. Do I understand this right? If I square the yeti's XP it will go from being 30 to 900 right (30*30)?
