You are chosen to play leader, what class will you take?

I'll multiclass Cleric/Warlord  I don't think I have enough info to actually make a decision (about the 4e mechanics/fluff), so I'll refrain from voting, I've played both archtypes before and they can both be fun.

    Homebrews - Who's starting over?

If I convert to 4e I'll stick with my current homebrew probably, just finished making this one and I like it. If theres things I don't like about the fluff/mechanics of 4e races I can change them. And I already have very simple pantheons of gods for my homebrew, so I'll just add any new gods...

    Align this character.

Sticking with your friends over society might be chaotic. Argument for it: If one of your friends were arrested for theft and you knew you could lead the cops to proof that he did it and you chose to do so you're acting lawfully if you chose that loyalty to friends comes before rule of law and...

What "IS" the Dungeons & Dragons Brand?

If every system published with the label D&D is indeed D&D then D&D can't be a system because it has changed too much. Therefore D&D is a setting, an abstract idea that somewhat revolves around fighting your way through dungeons, slaying the things their and taking their valuables. If you say...

    D&D 4E Gaming, Gamers, Dollars, and 4E

I never was a huge D&D consumer. I might buy 2 D&D books a year tops (1.5 average), outside of my initial investment in the 3e core books (I use the 3.5 SRD rather than buying the books). I use to play a couple collectible games, but quit those because I didn't feel it was worth the investment...

    No full attack option?

Those fighting styles don't work with the core rules anyway, and even with material outside of core aren't too effective. In melee two handed weapons and occaisonally sword and board always beat two weapon fighting, the exception being the rogue with two weapon fighting.

D&D 4E 4e Special Ability PER Encounter stinks...

Don't forget psionic focus, as previously mentioned, was effectivley a 'per encounter' ability, at least at low levels.

    Arcane/Divine

I miss sticks to snakes in 3e. Hopefully they'll bring in back in 4th edition :)

does this armor make me look fat?

Fashion has only come up to the extent that if you're trying to sneak into a highclass establishment or rub elbows with wealthy nobles you shouldn't do it dress in your grubby explorers outfit and well used chainmail (usually PCs will go and buy nobles/courtiers out fits).

Game Breaker Spells - What are they?

The zone of truth could smell like rotting fish. That'd make it very noticible to cast in a public place.

    "Functional Equivalent" to Prestige Classes

I always thought most PRCs would function better as feats If they make them work as talent trees or something similar I'll probably start liking the PRC concept again. They'll essentially be special abilities that only members of certain organizations can learn or special abilities that only a...

    Emphasizing Law vs. Chaos

Trojan War particuarly. Achilles=Chaos Hector=Law Agamemnon=Law Paris=Chaos Which is why Achilles and Agamemnon came into conflict partially.

    D&D 4E Request for 4E Dwarves

Dwarves I don't think are mechanically odd. I find your proposed fix however, small size plus powerful build very odd and it would make dwarves even stronger than they are now (except for reduced speed in armor). Powerful build wasn't introduced to later books, so its not like when they made...

What Is The Essence of D&D?

There is a difference between too many and too few dungeons in a given campaign, if there had been no dungeons would you have been happy? D&D at its core though involves dungeon crawling in order to kill things and take their stuff.

    "Siloing" Class Abilities

Not sure I like the sound of this. If phantom steed is too weak move it down a level otherwise a caster character should have to make choices between utility versus combat. But what do I know? Have to wait and see when it comes out, the magic system is receiving such a large overhaul after all.

    Counterattack?

Thinking the same thing. But I tend to go for the more conservative answer, rather than say jump to conclusions (which is so much more fun though!).

    D&D 4E The WotC designers will be bashing 4e once 5e is announced . . .

If you've ever been to the houserules forum you'll see that people have been seeing things that don't work for a long time now.

Wizards: Bard to no longer suck

I have always been somewhat baffled by how much people think bards suck at combat. Compared to an unbuffed cleric a bard comes pretty close and is more than equal to a rogue who isn't sneak attacking (and I'd say at least half of a given rogues attacks aren't sneak attacks) they're just as good...

What Is The Essence of D&D?

There was a poll about this a few days ago called 'which sacred cow is the most sacred' or something like that. Most people voted classes. But there was a vocal group of us who said dungeons (followed by dragons) were the most core thing to d&d.

Will anyone fill WOTC's shoes with 3E?

I answered I'm going to 4e no matter what. But in reality if the new game sucks I won't. I don't think a new company needs to start publishing 3.X material for people to keep playing. There's so much 3.5 material already out there I think there actually is no need for anymore of it, just...
