    Change Weapon focus or Specialization

There's another interesting precedent - in Fiendish Codex I, there is a spell that allows the caster to alter a willing target's feats (in the published example, it's giving or taking away fiendish heritage feats). You could allow alternate spells to change other feats ...

All sorts of character sheets (was Savage Tide Character Sheet)

To make the background lighter in MS Word, where I build these, I go to format image, and change the brightness/contrast settings. That tends to 'lighten' it. If I wasn't so lazy, I could put it into a photo editor or picture editor and increase the transparency setting ... :) The problem...

    Looting Dead PCs

Heya! I wish my party would use Speak With Dead more often! But if they loot their fellow PCs, and there are a lot of PC deaths, they are going to get waaay ahead of the Wealth curve. Either ask the players to bury the PCs with their boots, or lower the treasure of critters (or create costs)...

All sorts of character sheets (was Savage Tide Character Sheet)

... aaaaand they're up at Lillith's dmtools.org site ... http://www.dmtools.org/resources.php?nav=csheets She also put up my monster reference cards and initiative chart.

    Chargen with Hubris

I like the idea of action points for the critters - that way min/maxers can't take advantage of it. Rather than work out point buy, I'd go back to my idea of counting up stat modifiers. If a PC has +5 total (+2 more than they should), give the monsters 2 action points *every* encounter. If...

    Chargen with Hubris

How about Schadenfreude? It's german for taking pleasure in another person's misfortune ... :heh: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude

    Chargen with Hubris

That's a great idea! Let players pick their stats, and add up the stat modifiers -- anything +4 and under is fine. Anything above that gains a point of hubris for every +1 modifier above +4. You could keep it story based, like evil wenches, pickpockets, bad luck, and the like, or you could...

    Wizard school specialization, your favorites?

Illusionist, with prohibited schools conjuration and evocation -- you can always get them back with the spells shadow conjuration and shadow evocation! I'm a great fan of illusionists! Human ones.

    Shadow Conjuration 101?

Next question -- if your gaming group uses other source books for spells, should Shadow Conjuration be able to freely copy any spell from those sources?

    Essential Adventuring Equipment

Absolutely, 2-3 daggers are always great! Remember, they make a great option for a thrown missile weapon. The Ptolus book has some absolutely great ideas! Spring-loaded wand sheaths, rat leash and harness setups (to spring traps), and so on.

    Essential Adventuring Equipment

Flasks of oil - a popular maneuver with our group is to hit someone with a flask of alchemists fire (which burns for 2 rounds), and then every round hit the critter with a flask of oil. Parchment and inkpens - so you can make maps and journals, and share them with your group or other NPCs. A...

    Essential Adventuring Equipment

Great ideas, guys! Don't forget a small metal mirror for looking around corners. A tanglefoot bag is almost essential for taking out big bruisers at low levels such as ogres, or flying critters such as harpies or small dragons. Every adventurer should buy a cold iron and silver dagger, just...

    Twighlight Tomb Question

    Gaming with the kids ...

OK, I managed to scarf up an old black dragon Basic Set (better for younger kids, I think), and I've written out a select number of druid spells on index cards for Katie to use, and I've got poker chips to represent hit points ... I'm writing the adventure today or tomorrow. I'll post the...
