Review of the Dragonlance DVD at Newsarama!

He may be suggesting that changes were made to the story that put it more in the vein of LotR rather than the source material. That's what I got out of his response, anyway.

WotC_Dave "Noonan" says a little on adventures

Greg Vaughan has written several adventures for Dungeon magazine, I believe.

    The return of Valiant Comics!?

So long as Christopher Priest and MD Bright get to write Quantum & Woody again (or get some kind of rights to the characters), I'll be happy.

    4th ED Vision of Mystara

From my understanding of how things played out, a lot of the problem with the 2E material came from the way it was decided by TSR to handle the line, and not with the designers themselves. James Mishler has talked in the past about how Jeff Grubb, the designer behind the Kingdom of Karameikos...

Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited--Am I in Heaven?

Heh. I like how they list Marvel Team-Up and show the cover to #25 with Spidey and Daredevil, but the only issues they actually have are the Kirkman issues from 2004-2006 (vol 3 of the title, I think). If they had more really old stuff, I might consider it. Guess I'll wait until then.

    4th ED Vision of Mystara

Yes and no, really. Obviously, the world was designed as a backdrop campaign world for the BECMI rules sets, but once the Gazetteers began to come out, they increasingly started to create new rules and make changes to the fundamental notions of how things are. The changes pretty much started...

Ptolus: The Prison of the Sahuagin Queen

With a slight frown, Vanden joins his companions as they sidle into the Ten Bells under the voluminous (and preoccupied) nose of the watchman.

    4th ED Vision of Mystara

A couple of options for dragonborn come to mind. First (and notably) would be to either use them as a substitute for the chameleon men of the Savage Coast (who are dragonkin and had a great empire in ancient times, before the aranea destroyed their civilization). If you didn't want to do away...

    Batman dead in 2008?

It wasn't the Beatles when they proclaimed they were more popular than Jesus?

    [Spoilers] Spiderman: One More Day...

And on it goes. (JMS' response to Joe's interview. Looks like there may have been some degree of throwing someone under the bus, but at this point, I'm not sure who was the victim. :p Honestly, I tend to fall in the camp of JMS probably really did have things through through so that the...

    [Spoilers] Spiderman: One More Day...

Joe Q's at it again. From the latest session of the OMD interviews at CBR (discussing the Sins Past storyline): (emphasis mine) So- it's not okay that Peter and Gwen- two people who are in love with one another and in a healthy, committed relationship to have "unprotected or careless sex out...

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

Just for the record, there are still Gnostics (and Gnostic churches) in modern times. Was just reading an article about one here in southern California not too many months ago, in fact.

    Whatever happened to Zogonia?

*bump* Has anyone heard anything more about Tony and/or Zogonia?

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

Presumably he's referring to things like the effects of high winds on PCs (penalties to attack rolls, DCs to retain balance, etc.), which to my knowledge, have never been required to run an air elemental attack.

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

That cracks me up (I glossed over that part, too, until you pointed it out.) Especially in light of their justification for creating the "new" archons: So- we don't like elementals because they're ubiquitous and of human intellect, but don't build or do anything, and only hit things. Let's...

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

I have to agree that it's a very poor choice of nomenclature, IMO. Not only are these things not what are remotely traditionally associated with Archons (in D&D terms), but they don't even really connect with the etymology of the RW term "archon" in any fashion. They're more like... Fiery...

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

Huh- yeah, you're right- it's in the physiology part. I hadn't really gotten too far past all of the other mentions of "living flame". Still, I wonder why creatures of flame would wear metal armor- since it seems that it would be a poor material for them to work with. Why not rock, or...

Ptolus: The Prison of the Sahuagin Queen

Vanden was nonplussed. "Shouldn't we simply tell him what we are about? Surely the Watch will be amenable to our further investigations?"

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

While the visual is kind of interesting, I have always been curious about elemental/insubstantial sorts of creatures that wear armor. What's the point/function, other than just to look neat? [EDIT- I realize they actually have armor calculated into the AC of the archons, but just from a...

    [Spoilers] Spiderman: One More Day...

Well, like I said, Joe Q's said that this whole debacle was the reason they did that in the first place. (This is from part 2 of his interview at CBR.) Which is so forced, IMO.
