Doctor Who SE04 EP03: Planet of the Ood (spoilers)

Yay! In the 42nd century, mankind finally gets its revenge on Illithid-kind and enslave Maanzecorian! Then they realize it is wrong to do unto the mind flayers as they have done unto man, and freedom rings across the galaxy! Nice episode. I like how it tied up some loose ends regarding the...

    Michael Chabon's Spider-Man 2 script

Thank god for Google cache. :) [EDIT - On second thought, maybe not. Just read it and didn't like it at all. Much prefer the version we got.]

Boardroom Games in Indianapolis is closing!!

That stinks. I used to go to Boardroom Games a lot when I lived in Indy 15 years ago. That and one other place (can't recall the name offhand; there was the Boardroom and one in the Glendale Mall). And then I'd go to the comic shop down the street there on Broad Ripple. Good times.

    April and Beyond is up

/nitpick/ The Fiend Folio and Hook Horror were introduced into D&D long before XL-1 came out. /end nitpick/ :p

They're making a movie of.. Dan Simmons' Hyperion?

Yeah... hm. I think Hyperion itself would be tremendously difficult to adapt to film, but combining Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion into one movie? Can't really see it, at least not without sacrificing a tremendous amount of the themes and allegories of the novels.

Doctor Who SE04 EP01: Partners in Crime (spoilers)

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked Tate as Donna in the Runaway Bride Christmas episode, so wasn't too worried about how she'd be as a companion, but I do miss Martha Jones. I really enjoyed her character, and didn't feel she'd been given quite enough to do last season and would have liked to see...

Ptolus: The Prison of the Sahuagin Queen

OOC: Did you mean Garnet? He's the one who was talking about the amulet, not Vanden.

If they ever do a Drizzt movie....

But, but... Dark Elves are Black! That's a Shadowelf. :)

[EW] 20 worst Comic Book movies

On the other hand, if we didn't have Superman III, we'd have never gotten the comedy gold that is Office Space. So, karmic balance is fulfilled.

How about Black Dougal? Is he still alive?

[EW] 20 worst Comic Book movies

Judge Dredd wouldn't have been so bad if they'd nixed the casting of Rob Schneider, and had just dumped the comedic elements altogether. That was the worst part of the whole thing.

    Snake Eyes

Christopher Eccleston is playing Destro (last minute re-cast). Destro isn't bald in the comics, either (just has a receding hairline when we finally see him unmasked). Vosloo isn't always bald. Besides, you don't see Zartan without his cowl very often in the comics (at least in the originals, I...

    Snake Eyes

Frankly, I'm stoked that they pulled in Larry Hama as a creative consultant. That is a step in the right direction, for sure. I understand he's got a part in the movie as well. (Oh, and could Arnold Vosloo have been more perfectly cast as Zartan?)

    Jedis Deflecting Blaster Bolts

Which makes me think of another possibility for the Ben-age thing. Maybe the Ben we see in the prequels is really much older than he looks. Once he exiles himself to Tattooine, however, cosmetic surgery becomes much more difficult to come by than on Coruscant. :)

    Tropic Thunder

Probably, but someone out there is always going to be offended by something. Often without experiencing/seeing/reading whatever it is they're getting offended by, so that they can form their own impressions of whether it truly is offensive or not.

    Jedis Deflecting Blaster Bolts

Maybe umm... FTL technology somehow breaks down over the course of the intervening decade and a half between Episodes 3 and 4, such that it now takes much longer to transverse the distances between planets, and thus the reason Ben seems older is because he took many trips on and off Tattooine in...

    Jedis Deflecting Blaster Bolts

Didn't Luke deflect some lasers when storming Bespin? (Been a while since I've seen ESB, so I'm not sure.) Could have something to do with Ben's training. Aside from him seeming a bit too old to be doing some of the really physical stuff (Yoda and Dooku's performances in the prequels aside)...

    Tropic Thunder

One of the things that I love about living so close to L.A.- plenty of opportunities for free screenings. (Of course, much of the time, those screenings aren't worth 2+ hours of your life. Timeline? Species 3? Blearghhhh! I did see Dodgeball as a screener, though, so...) I jumped at the chance...

Lost S04E08 20 Mar 08 - Meet Kevin Johnson (Spoilers)

Maybe, although they'd be kind of hard to get to at this point. They're kind of scattered beneath mounds of dirt, and any excavation (it seems to me) would draw the attention of the survivors still on the beach. It would be a neat idea, though.
