WotC Shannon Appelcline the layoffs and the OGL fiasco.

Anyway, I doubt we'll see the older edition SRDs in CC anytime soon. The staff left at WotC after the layoffs probably have more important things to work on than preparing documents that aren't going to earn any money and only a small number of people even care about.

WotC Shannon Appelcline the layoffs and the OGL fiasco.

It wouldn't surprise me if preparing the pre-5E SRDs for CC was de-prioritized by WotC management soon after the promise was made, and they have no plans of picking it up again.

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

The LEGO group is becoming increasingly dominant in in the global toy market, squeezing out rivals like Hasbro and Mattel.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you interpret the green-flame blade and booming blade somatic component?

Are there any magical focuses that require you to cast a spell with them to work? All the ones I remember only require the caster to be holding the item to receive the benefits.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on 5th…

The main appeal of 5th ed right now is that you'll get a brand new edition in 6 months! How's that for rapid improvement?!

D&D General Ollie’s has Campaign Cases for $3 and Warriors of Krynn for $10

While appearing at a liquidator doesn't mean that a product was a failure, I have a hunch that in this case it does. There never seemed to be any enthusiasm for these products anywhere I usually see people talk about D&D stuff.

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Depends what that childhood is like. Children being toddlers for 20 years would probably kill anyone's desire to become parents, but if means carefree adolescense for 90 years betwen the ages of 10 and 100 then it can make sense. Maybe they were dabbling a bit here and a bit there and a bit...

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

That was my experience with the older Shadowrun editions too. As characters become stronger their ability to do damage increases much faster than their ability to resist damage, so "high level" combat is just about being the one to shoot first.

Shadowrun 1st Edition To Be Reprinted

I'm not interested in this product in the slightest!

    D&D 5E (2014) Minions with Damage Thresholds?

Regarding this, if I was using minions in 5e, I'd definitely adapt the 4e rule that minions never take damage on a miss to minions taking 0 damage on a successful save that would normally be half damage.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

RAW, an improvised weapon must be wieldable in one or two hands. I'd say a piece of paper is too flimsy to be "wielded". A rolled up newspaper would qualify!

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

The confusing part of Flame Blade is how it describes the effect as a flaming scimitar, which makes it sound like something you'd use to make weapon attacks. If it had been called Flaming Touch or something, it would be far more obvious that the intent of the spell is to let the caster do a...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Fighter/Martial Problem (In Depth Ponderings)

Is that really a problem? Someone who needs a "simple" class probably isn't going to notice a slight performance shortfall.

D&D Movie/TV Chris Pine tells Gamesradar+ he's "pretty confident" Honor Among Thieves sequel will happen

In other words, a desperate attempt to revive a dying franchise by upping the stakes, regardless of whether or not it makes sense.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

In 9 years of playing D&D 5e on average once per fortnight, I've never seen any character cast or even prepare Flame Blade. So it does seem like an underpowered spell. Having it conjure an actual "weapon" that can be used for weapon attacks probably isn't game breaking. If you think it should...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

But it's not actually a scimitar. A scimitar is solid, a flame isn't. Major difference.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

Also, a spell effect is not an object. Neither is a non-magical flame, for that matter. RAW, I see no support for treating a Flame Blade as an improvised weapon, and plenty of reasons to disallow it. If the spell was meant to create an actual flaming weapon, it would have said so.
