D&D 3.x [3.5] CHALLENGE: Best way to hide/protect an item

8 months (240 days). If it works like crafting a Wondrous item, the 120,000 gp that the lich must pay in materials means it's a 240,000 gp "market" item (one which is never sold...), for a 240 day crafting time.

    Earth Elemental Familiar?

Not everything - without other factors, an NPC human Fighter-1 with a Con score of 10 has 1d10 hp, for instance. That's non-ambiguous.

    Earth Elemental Familiar?

Yes, we are looking at the same page. The rules aren't hard. They boil down to "Check the picture: Does it look like it would fit?" - but it's not a hard rule because different DM's will conclude differently. It's got a bunch of protrusions... but are those all spikes? Are some of them...

    Earth Elemental Familiar?

Sort of. It specifies what to do with things that lack fingers... but it doesn't say what constitutes a finger, and doesn't list all creatures as whether or not they have fingers. Which amounts to "Check the picture: Does it look like it would fit?" - which I don't consider a "hard and fast...

    Good Spells for Dragons?

Ah, depends: Do you want to kill the party, or pose a challenge? If you want to kill the party, look at spells like Wraithstrike (swift action, makes all attacks resolve as incorporeal touch: goes well with Power Attack and Hover) and Wings of Cover (immediate action "no" spell - neutralize one...

    Amusing/Un-Helpful Magic item idea help.

The first two of those could be very, very useful (uncapped non-combat healing), the third is mostly just annoying.

    Earth Elemental Familiar?

They're Elementals Actually which... now that I look at it closer, get Simple Weapon Proficiency if they're "generally humanoid in form" - which is to say "Ask your DM"... which is unhelpful for the OP, as he IS the DM.

Making an Attack Roll with Fireball?

What's particularly useful about that is that a Fireball can thereby bypass Line of Effect... which requires at least one square foot of gap in a five by five section of wall. You can't cast Charm Person through the cell door that is solid save for a small barred window. Fireball, on the other...

    Earth Elemental Familiar?

The answer for such questions is generally "Ask your DM" - but in this case, you're the DM, so that's out. The best you can get from us is opinions, really, as most of the things you have questions about are not clearly spelled out as written. In general, any helpful effect that affects you...

Playing cleric but not a heal-bot?

One of the planar traits is impeded magic, which, if the DM is wanting a "suffering" campaign, could be what the OP is after.

    Potion of Greater Invisibility?

Obscure prestige class. There's a lot of spells that are different levels for different classes, and there's a lot of PrC's that grant their own spellcasting, with different spells at different levels. Tack on to that the little bit that the DMG lets you make up your own PrC's - encourages it...

What do ranks in Knowledge skill really represent ??

That's not an inherently bad thing. If you'll note, nobody here has so much as suggested you're not an English speaker - which pretty much means that your English, at least in typed form, is close enough to native-level that nobody notices sufficiently as to mention it or ask for clairification...

how do you find someone who cant be found?

If he's got them? Not so much. But there's other ways - what's his blindsense/blightsight based on? A Cleric with Silence could possibly fix that. Alternately, Blindesense and Blindsight don't work on incorporeal critters - a ghost spellcaster with True Seeing (the spell) would SERIOUSLY...

how do you find someone who cant be found?

Traditional answer to the subject line: You don't. Slightly more helpful answer: You don't. You make him find you. He's put a LOT of effort into being unfindable. Okay. Type 1) He's probably not as good at spotting things as he is at hiding things. Show him what happens when you...

Cashing in on the Dragon Type

You also get natural weapons (So claw/claw/bite, usually), racial skill bonuses (for instance, the Pseudodragon has a +4 racial to Hide... that's in addition to the size bonus), and racial bonus feats (a lot of the tiny creatures get Weapon Finess for free).

    Ready action gamebreaking situations

Problem: You can only ready a single action.

Cashing in on the Dragon Type

Well, you might look at many of the Sorcerer-only spells... they have a lot of nifties for someone of the dragon-blooded type - Wings of Cover and Wings of Flurry (or was that "Fury"? Oh well...) are especially useful.
