D&D 5E (2014) Persuasion - How powerful do you allow it to be?

In short, no, saying that there are some NPCs that simply can't be persuaded isn't wrong in any way. That's how the real world works, too. Some people can't be persuaded no matter how eloquent or powerful your argument is, sometimes simply because you're trying to persuade them. That being...

D&D 5E (2014) Gale Force 9 Shows Off D&D 'Of Ships & The Sea' DM Screen

Ugh. I might actually have to buy this one. I feel like it might be super useful, since my players have been begging me to run a long pirate campaign, and I finally relented after my current campaign ends.

D&D General WotC's Secret Lore Book

I'm actually fine with knowing all the secrets, because then I get to lead my characters through discovering them as well.

How long does it take to generally take to set a campaign up

My normal suggestion for this is 3-4 hours of prep work per 1 hour of session. However, this is a "do as I say, not as I do" sort of thing, because I spent over a year preparing my current campaign. I do not suggest doing that. I would caveat that there are times when you'll have a player...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Update: Pathfinder 2E Core and Bestiary in Regular and Deluxe Editions

Hehe, I worked on Tome of Horrors. Converting monsters is super easy: just completely ignore the mechanics of Pathfinder and come up with your own 5e style stuff. Keep only the theme and fluff.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Novels - How Many Are There?

I would add the only caveat being the original Dragonlance novels, because there's no other books I've ever read that reads so much like an actual D&D adventure with somewhat uncooperative players. Just read them for nostalgia, and then make the setting your own, in other words.

    D&D 5E (2014) Campaign PDF Speculation

You know, something occured to me reading these responses. What if the next stealth setting will be Nentir Vale? If I recall correctly, Mike Mearls actually wrote a bunch for it, and I could see them putting it somewhere in Forgotten Realms, with little tidbits on adapting it to other areas.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Update: Pathfinder 2E Core and Bestiary in Regular and Deluxe Editions

As a 5e DM, I unfortunately still buy a lot of the PF books, because the majority of the adventures, setting material, and especially campaigns are very good. As my current campaign is coming to a close, I pitched Rise of the Runelords-Shattered Star-Return of the Runelords (as a huge 3x 1-20...

    offline campaign tools

Hardcover sketchbooks! Durable, go anywhere, bring lots of pens and pencils. You can even get dot matrix journals that are hardcover, too, to make it easy to draw maps as well. For computer based options, use OneNote. It does not require an online anything, although it can be used to back up...

    D&D 5E (2014) State of the mystic

My biggest quibble for all the versions of the mystic, save perhaps the first one, are that they are far too broad thematically. If a mystic can take the role of a ranger, fighter, monk, and wizard, its way too good. I've yet to see any homebrew that addresses all the issues that it has...

Which of these D&D classes would you take if you had to choose one?

The Lodestar is the one that I think sounds the most interesting; I actually read the Savant, but didn't like it. Just didn't wow me like I'd hoped it would. The Mahout was interesting as well, but not my cup of tea in general.

D&D 5E (2014) Why did they design Demiplane to suck?

This is probably what happened when they wrote it. I would absolutely allow further castings to make it bigger, but it'd need to take time and money, probably. My player's wizard is pretty far behind the party, so he won't be getting access to that for a while.
