    D&D 5E (2014) They Broke Arcane Archer!!!

As a writer in this industry, you would be 100% correct. It happens all the time. Human nature.

D&D 5E (2014) A Proper Ability Score Generation Preference Poll

As on the other thread, my groups roll for stats, 4d6 drop lowest, but they roll two arrays and get to choose between the first or second. It makes for decent stats, but they're not crippled with a bad array (if both arrays are below a +4 total modifier, they get to reroll both).

D&D 5E (2014) xanathar's guide to everything class options thread

I'm not so worried about the Charisma for attack/damage being overpowered, just that it might set a precedent that leads to more "nontraditional" attack stats for weapons. It's always bugged me.

D&D 5E (2014) xanathar's guide to everything class options thread

I'm not super thrilled about Hexblade and getting to use Charisma as the attack stat, but I may be the odd one out. I didn't like that in other editions, either.

D&D 5E (2014) What character generation method does your group use?

I do 4d6 drop lowest 6 times, but have the players generate two arrays and choose between the first or second array. It makes for interesting characters with variability and low abilities sometimes, but you're not doomed to using one bad array.

D&D 5E (2014) What class do you think you want to play but never actually play?

Any class, because I'm a ForeverDM. I have a pet Paladin/Sorcerer multiclass character I want to play, and I'd love to resurrect my abortive investigator in the right campaign, but that's few and far between. He needs a campaign that's all mystery and a DM that can challenge me with the mysteries.

AD&D 1E Houserules to make 5e like 1e or 2e (things I've used for the past year) -thoughts?

Rather than slow natural healing, might I suggest the following: With this variant, characters no longer regain their full hit points after a long rest. Instead, during a long rest a character can spend hit dice to regain hit points, rolling each die and adding their Constitution modifier as...

D&D 5E (2014) I really like orcs & goblins, and stories that incorporate them.

I have read both of those and loved them! Orcs and goblins have a reason to be evil in my setting, because of their creation myths; don't have to be, but their societies pretty much indoctrinate them.

D&D 5E (2014) I really like orcs & goblins, and stories that incorporate them.

I have an area of the setting I'm using that I've built up a bunch of orc tribes with their own cultures and grievances; it's been centuries since the orcs have united under a single leader, the last time being a moment when the orc horde almost conquered an entire province, only to be pushed...

D&D 5E (2014) Converting Monsters - which addition is easier to convert from?

I have to say that Pathfinder/3.5 are the easiest, but that's only because, while I've played earlier editions--and even run them, on occasion--it was never for as long as I ran the former two. So, it's a lot easier for me to convert, say, a PF monster into a 5e monster than it would be to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Group Rule Deal-Breakers

The only thing I would disagree with is the "evil PCs" thing, but I have not once been in a game where there was one evil PC and it turned out even halfway decent for all involved; I banned evil PCs entirely for my home games for this reason. In the decade+ of DMing, it's never turned out well...

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting pathfinder adventure paths to 5e

Depends on what needed converting, and what the timeframe is, really. If you needed the entirety of Curse of the Crimson Throne in a month, I couldn't pull that off because I'm a slave to a soulless corporation that tends to work 8-12hrs a day. It took me almost a year to get 60% done of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting pathfinder adventure paths to 5e

If someone wanted to pay me, I'd convert adventures and adventure paths all day long. Just sayin'...

I would also like the conversions for Curse of the Crimson Throne.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting pathfinder adventure paths to 5e

I converted Rise of the Runelords! Unfortunately, I don't have any of my notes, anymore. Let that be a lesson to you: always backup your stuff. However, that being said, the only issue I had was the Haunts in the second chapter; I also cut the big dungeon underneath Sandpoint, and decided to...

D&D 5E (2014) Mystic playtest...ugg this class is all over the place

I really want to like Mystic...but it is all over the place thematically. To me, Mystic should be weird, not be able to do everything every other class can do, almost as well. To me, the basic theme for Mystic should be: "Mind Over...", while there should be three subclasses, "Matter", "Mind"...

D&D 5E (2014) What 5e rule/option/class/item etc. do you regret allowing into your game

Weapon of Warning. Anything that ignores surprise, really. That bothers the :):):):) out of me.

D&D 5E (2014) House rule idea for healing to avoid "whack-a-mole"

I actually go the other way! I've changed it so HP doesn't regen at the end of a long rest; instead, you have to spend whatever hit dice you want at the beginning of a long rest, and then you get back half of what hit dice you have remaining, minimum 1. Playing whack-a-mole is a very dangerous...

D&D 5E (2014) Survival and Exhaustion in ToA: need a good house rule.

For my games, I changed the Outlander feature to being able to find a safe place to rest, so you don't get random encountered by anything during that rest. The food and such is up to the players characters to locate.
