I'm building a new setting at the moment - a province in a ancient persia - style empire...

I've found my aproach has changed over the years. I used to sit down, and doodle a map, then I would build the Setting around what ever funny ideas were going around my head at the time I was drawing. These days I have an idea, and build the setting around the idea, then draw the map to suit...

As a DM, I let my players roll the stats for their first characters (4d6, worst die drops, 12 times, best 6, distribute as wished), and any new characters they might need are 32-point buy....
