Pathfinder 1E Post here if you're a PATHFINDER RPG fan!

I am also a Pathfinder fan. I mostly use the Pathfinder materials and adventures in my still running D&D 3.5 campaign.

Pathfinder 1E please recommend pathfinder books

I'll second the recommendation for the NPC Codex for ongoing campaign play. Having just a pile of NPC stats to pull out for any given situation is very handy. I have not tried out any of the stuff in Ultimate Campaign yet, but it looks very interesting. It does have the updated kingdom stuff...

GMs: How do you soften the blow?

I punch them in the face. That way they have something to distract them from the disappointment of losing a character. ;)

Pathfinder 1E Fighting a Medusa with mirrors?

In my own games, I've found that, as long as the party knows that the creature they are facing is a medusa, it gets handily punked even without using special rules for mirrors. Aside from their gaze, medusae are not particularly powerful for their CR. If you want to encourage the use of...

Quick Question: Seeking a burrowing Humanoid

A few other suggestions... Burn it out. Get someone with the Craft (Alchemy) skill to develop an antifungal substance and kill it off that way. Congratulate your DM on 'winning' and then go adventuring somewhere else.

Comprehending languages and knowing which languages they are

On the original question, I would probably assume that the characters can know what language the script is in. On the question of CL and transliterated info, I'd allow it. If, for some reason, I wanted comprehend languages not to work, I'd remove it from the game's spell list.

What is the downside to simple systems?

Most of the complexity in GURPS is optional. GURPS is a toolbox game, so it is really not necessary to use all of those rules. I tend to use a very paired down version of GURPS most of the time, occasionally using those extra rules to 'zoom in' on a scene or scenario that I and my players find...

What is the downside to simple systems?

That system would require a great deal of input at the table from the DM, which is, as I said, one of the possible downsides to a simpler system.

What is the downside to simple systems?

The simpler a system, the more it relies upon the DM to adjudicate situations that may not be adequately covered, or supplemental rules to cover things that come up often in whatever genre you're playing. This results in a. more work for the DM at the table or b. a lot of extra rules-material...

Tweaking the Star Wars Saga Edition Skill System

Not really. The main reason to take one class over another is to get a talent related to that class. What it really did was to make multiclassing super easy. At each level, you get the hit points and (possibly) a talent from whichever class you choose. In theory, you could gain some advantage...

    Gamehackery: Valar Morghulis and DMing

That sounds pretty cool! If you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to see that.

    Free Will and Story

This seems like it essentially boils down to a massive disparity in play-styles. If that DM runs another game, that player should probably not play in it.

Tweaking the Star Wars Saga Edition Skill System

I have a fairly heavily house-ruled version of SWSE that I've run and played in for quite some time. Here's what I did. Skills, Defenses, and Attacks scale at the same rate (one-half character level) for all characters. Weapon Proficiency and Weapon Focus grants +2 to attacks with that sort of...

D&D 3.x Consequences of a single change to AoO rules for 3.5/d20/Pathfinder?

Generally, removing AOO for movement has only one fairly serious repercussion. Low hit point characters that stand behind the primary combatants can still be targeted by opponents who simply bypass those with more hit points or combat ability. As the low hit point characters are often...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D, for kids?

I don't see anything there that seems inappropriate for children. Depictions of violence are not the same as violence. I knew that when I started playing D&D at eight years of age, and all the kids that I have been around know that now. The old Moldvay Basic D&D Box Set that I got when I was a...

The good old times (in settings). Or?

I am preparing to run a campaign where the world is (somewhat) newly created. The player characters, having been a portion of the pantheon of gods who created the world have been depleted of power and will begin as 1st level characters whose goals are to reclaim their place among the heavens...

    Rebalancing the Rogue

Mostly it is elementals, oozes, creatures with lots of eyes (beholders) or hiveminds (formians) that are immune to flanking... So, it is not a negligible selection of critters, but neither is it a majority.

    tips for getting proof readers?

This. I've house ruled a couple of game so extensively that they have become a different game altogether. When I wanted to find out if the house rules were actually making the game run the way that I wanted it to run, I handed the DM reigns over to someone else. When someone else prepares and...

    3G: Dungeons & Stereotypes

In at least two groups that I played in, the DM rolled all the dice. it didn't seem all that odd to me.
