    Suggestion on Build

    I agree with Irdeggman. Not that I'm telling you how to enjoy your game, or how your DM should run his, but IMC, I'd not allow it. The reason for the +2 LA, is so the player has to sacrifice something in order to obtain all those cool abilities. It is also obvious, that the level penalty is most...

    Three Questions

    Question one: Yes Question two: Is actually more than one question. And an often house-ruled one. Check with your DM. For instance, I never, ever, allow a character to obtain the ability through feats or class abilities to cast a spell of an effective level higher than what their character...

    command undead never runs out?

    An 8th level Dread Necromancer (Heroes of Horror) has the "Undead Mastery" class feature. All undead have +4 Str & +4 Dex & +2 hp / HD. In addition, can control (4HD + Cha mod)/class level of undead via animate dead. A Scepter of the Netherworld (Libris Mortis) allows a rebuker to rebuke (and...

    Items in shop; everything or a limited selection?

    I'd actually like the players in such a case to make the effort. All too often the bland middle-aged player doesn't even bother. I guess I've seen too many quasi-heroes without the driving need of greed.

    Items in shop; everything or a limited selection?

    The problem here being that just because a DM decides to handwave the purchasing effort of obtaining a new minor magical item, does not imply the existance of magic-item Wall-Marts, and stating that it does so and similarly stating that it is against "the spirit of the rules", is somewhat...

    Items in shop; everything or a limited selection?

    No, I think you are just a subcategory of the modern player; there are others out there, with similar aspirations. It does require that the DM pays extra special care and attention to the game, and requires the players to be open-minded to a different style, and trust the DM to a greater degree...

    Good idea? Every phb wizard spell up to 6th in his spellbooks

    Remember you don't have to purchase scrolls of spells to scribe, if you can somehow gain access to another spellcaster's spellbook. This is possible from other PC's, other friendly aligned NPC's, whom may still charge you a minor fee for the privelege, and captured spellbooks.

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 Monster Generator Wish List

    Comments after just after a very brief perusal: Adding all those strange templates without any references to where they are from is not such a good idea, IMNSHO. A tagline stating where each template is from would be a fantastic boon to just confirming the values. Secondly, I'd have liked to...

    Items in shop; everything or a limited selection?

    During the days of 1e and 2e, I usually had a list made up of the items available which the players could select as their reward (usually representing a selection of items from the royal vault). Large towns, in 3e, I just say anything under X gp is available, the rest I will usually guesstimate...

    Items in shop; everything or a limited selection?

    Firstly, that is because "playing DnD" now entails certain player expectations, which are different from the expectations of players in the 70s and 80s. In the 70s and 80s, influenced by books and literature wherein magic is described as rare and wonderful, the gaming culture in general was...

    Good idea? Every phb wizard spell up to 6th in his spellbooks

    When I play a wizard, I'm the collector kind, I need to have as many different spells as I can afford in my spellbook, without hampering my efficiency in game. With magic Items, I try to cover the all the basics, and use all available body slots, but try to stick to the core items. Because...

    Opinions about Raise Dead, Resurrection, Reincarnation...

    All very nice for death to be meaningful for those occasions when the character dies a noble, heroic death. Far less fun, and far more common, for the death to be caused by minor events snowballing into a catastrophic series of poor die rolling on the PC's part, leading to an ignomious end in a...

    Prone=Flatfooted?

    Realism is about as sought after in my games as realism is in a hollywood blockbuster action movie. In real life medieval Europe, people wallowed in ignorance and superstition. Armies suffered most deaths after the battle was fought, with the state of medicine, and the lack of basic hygene...

    Prone=Flatfooted?

    Right.... Except you the one trying to prove a point, not us. I suggest you take that test, and then we'll paralyze you, and kick you, and see if you can feel the difference....

    Prone=Flatfooted?

    Yes, apparently by Tyrloch's interpretation, the most efficient use of enlarge person is to cast it upon your opponent, so they suddenly become susceptible to sneak attacks....

    Prone=Flatfooted?

    No. Just no. Look, even a helpless defender doesn't "automatically suffer a critical": Your argument has no basis in the rules. If you suffer from A Dex poison, would you have you character auto-sneaked?

    Prone=Flatfooted?

    Most emphatically "No!"

    Defeating my powergamer Glave master

    I've run into a similar situation; one of my players enjoys dominating the battlefield, with a spiked chain, trip, etc. There are lots of ways to continue to challenge the party, even with such a dominant fighter on the battlefield. Mind you, they should be used sparingly. 1. Swamp the party...

    Allowing PCs to choose which skills are class skills?

    As long as you don't mind every paladin in your game with Use Magic Device out the wazzoo, go for it.

    Avius

    For our latest campaign, I've decided to produce a news letter for all the participants. This campaign is expected to be a biweekly event. The participants are all involved in the fleet sailing for Avius. With this news letter I hope to create a greater connection and understanding for the...
