Looking for some evil non-cleric healer

If it is an NPC, why the need to be constrained by the rules? If the adventure calls for a firebreathing, acid-proof donught, why do we need published rules to tell us how to implement it?

What to do with 1st level orc barbarians

I prefer to leave mine in a marinade over night, and barbeque them slowly over an open flame, until you get a charred finish.

How to ensure a Beguiler's survivability?

The key to surviving as a beguiler is not to get involved in fights. You want other people to do your fighting for you. charm X is your friend.

    8th Level Druid

So you're both an Initiate of Malar, and Sworn to Leviathan? :D

    14500 gp to spend

Well there is that, there is also the fact that you are basically putting all your eggs in one basket. There is a reason that in RL this is not a good idea. This spills over into the game as well. By limiting youself to what is basically a single "Item of Goodness" you are relying on that...

    8th Level Druid

Yep, the ring of counterspells (dispel magic) is a classic. At least you'll survive until the next evil cleric's turn... Fighting hordes of clerics is tough. But back on topic. You really can't build a completely ineffective & inept druid like you can most other classes. At least, without...

4E with 1E Feel: Does that appeal to you?

I'm very sceptical. But such is NG's reputation, that I'd be tempted to at least give them a chance. But I seriously doubt they could pull it off for me.

Feats that Should Be Skill Tricks

You are right. I just didn't express myself very well (again).

    multiple cohorts and leadership.

I can't get my players to even look at leadership. :-S Which is wierd, 'cause I'd allow both multiple leadership feats, and cascading leadership. I even allow a Thrallherd to take Leadership. I think it is due to some really bad experience with cohorts and followers in a previous game...

Feats that Should Be Skill Tricks

?? But there is, surely? Firstly: A Strength check to break down the door, secondly, the DM decides how much hp the wall has, and assigns it an appropriate hardness (probably around 5 for a wooden wall). Then just attack it with an axe.... So he obviously didn't know much about attacking...

Feats that Should Be Skill Tricks

I find some of the new mystic fonts to be quite flavourfull. Shadowcasters, or psionics, for instance. Because they can provide so much more flavour, I find them valuable additions. I just don't find the addition of "skill tricks" to provide enough flavour to justify their existance, and I still...

    Portable Hill

    What a cool idea!

D&D 3.x How would you add 4.0 style class powers to a 3.5 character class?

I'd tie them into level progression for a particular class. Preferably adding nothing but the few I found flavourful and interesting, and only adding them at "dead" levels. Perhaps allowing a character a choice of abilities.

Feats that Should Be Skill Tricks

And to counter my supposed "thread-crapping": Try asking yourself instead "Why?" Why do we need these skill tricks? Couldn't these "tricks" be included in the game satisfactorily by mechanics already existant within the game, without further complicating the game? What is lacking so that we...

    How does unconsciousness affect Rage?

Yep, this is one of those things that frequently pop up. By RAW, they continue to rage even after falling unconscious. Some DMs rule otherwise. Pays to be careful around that ability when playing with an untried DM. Personally, I just don't like the imagery of a barbarian lying on floor...

use magic device & psionic items.

IMC, we've merged Use Magical Device & Use Psionic Device into a single skill: Use Mystical Device. Works fine for us.

D&D 3.x Worst 3.5 rule from core books?

This is silly. The sword doesn't reveal your secret forging techniques. No, the standard describes the price at which most spellcasters will share their hard-fought for knowledge to relative strangers. I can't believe that you are taking this so literally that you apply it to all situations...

    14500 gp to spend

Woah, there laddy! Burning 9,000 gp out of 14,500 at this level on a single weapon is seriously not a good idea. Not even on any one item, should you be investing so much of your character's wealth. Not only can the weapon be rusted, stolen, lost, dispelled, sundered, disintegrated, you should...

    14500 gp to spend

I agree with the previous posters on this thread. That is, you can't go too far wrong in buyng a collection of cheap low level abilities. My choice would be: Periapt of Wisdom +2 (4000) +1 armor (1150 +armor cost) +1 shield (1150 +shield cost) +1 weapon (2300 +weapon cost) Vest of Resistance...
