SPR: Quantification of the "Theurge-style" PrCls

    1) Given that most fights at the level being discussed are over in three rounds or less, in any given one fight, the most spells caster is going to unleash during a battle is not expected to exceed 6, ignoring prep. 2) Given the standard 4 encounters / day, the most interesting focus should...

SPR: Quantification of the "Theurge-style" PrCls

Well, that might or might not be a concern with regads to how you play your game. But you are significantly ignoring many facts: 1) Your comparison only looks at the very peak; 20th level can hardly be said to be valid for most compaigns. 2) In any given battle, a character only has a...

The proper role of supporting NPCs?

NPC's are red coats. Their purpose is to fill in the background so the PCs aren't operating in a vacuum. They are all expendable, in one fashion or another. Scry-Buff-Teleport is definitely not the be-all-end-all of strategies, which seemed to be suggested earlier. There are a multitude of...

Poisoned Death Attack - Order of effects ?

Except that it has far greater implications than 1d6 fire & 1d6 electricity damage being applied. Whichever you roll first, is going to have implictions if the character dies and is then subsequently raised. Calculating fire or electricity damage first does not. I'd rule roll poison first...

    pitch me a characer build

Blarg, there is so much there that isn't core, could you please list which book the different stuff comes from? I found this stuff Dragonborn (races of the dragon) Water Half-Orc (Unearthed Arcana) Alternative class features (Unearthed Arcana) Air Heritage (Planar Handbook) But I don't know...

    PCs selling crafted items.

It generally isn't a problem unless you let it. You just have to be clear to the players that the game isn't Merchants & Shopkeepers. But that of course they can make a decent amount of cash according to their skills and feats if they want to during "off-hours". Just ask them what they are...

    PCs selling crafted items.

It sort of depends on what else happens in the multiverse while the wizard is stuck in his tower muttering over esoteric carvings. If the fighter's wife gets kidnapped two weeks into the creation, is he going to say "Well, the wizard needs another 5½ months to finish his fine dohickey staff...

    Farewell to thee D&D

I agree with the OP. 4e just isn't my cup of tea. I tried, but it just doesn't cut the grain with me at all.

Dungeons & Dragons Editions: Where Do You Stand?

A mixed bag. My genuine favourite is a mishmash of 3.0 & 3.5. Although we had great times with our 1e - 2e blend, as well. And even Basic DnD. I'll play 4e, but I just can't justify the effort any more, to DM it. I'm an old dog now. Cranky, and incapable of learning new tricks with ease.

    D&D 3.x Whats a good 3.5E Archer (Level 10+) build?

Only up to his allowed alotment of discretionary points. So, yes, when he can imbue the bow to a +3 equivalent, he can have a +1 Acidic Sonic bow. But this is only (roughly) equivalent to what the character at the level would have anyway. The Eldritch Knight, can have his +1 Acidic Sonic bow...

    pitch me a characer build

I'd actually like to play a beguiler... but I'm wierd like that. Anyhow.... there isn't much info to go on. You could always go Fighter (1) /Wizard (6) / Eldritch Knight (n), and go the archery route. You get haste, greater magic weapon, and flame arrow via your spellcasting, so can...

    D&D 3.x Whats a good 3.5E Archer (Level 10+) build?

I went the Fighter (1) /Wizard (6) /Eldritch Knight (n) route. That way, you can improve your bow as you like. You can also cast greater magic weapon, and flame arrow as desired, so you can concentrate on adding the wierd damage stuff (acid, sonic) to your bow. Consider also haste, together...

    Core Prestige Classes

Another PrC I found quite flavourful was the "Guild Wizard of Waterdeep". There was another very similar version with a different name, but the same basic mechanic... I seem to have forgotten it at the moment.

    Core Prestige Classes

Mystic Theurge should be there, and the Ur-Priest, should not. Furthermore, I'd add the Knight of the Lily, Knight of the Skull, and Knight of the Thorn, from the Dragonlance Campaign Setting. (I twice tried to post my list in a big post, but it crashed, so I gave up. I may try again later...

    Campaign Idea

IMC that was obtained by wrenching the entire planet away from it's natural place: the sun was about to be extinguished by the illithid, so, unable to stop them, the epic level cabal decided to risk planeshifting the entire planet away. With dire consequences.

    Campaign Idea

The wizard living in a tower in a temperate zone or warmer isn't likely to go wanting for warmth, and be reduced to burning his own scrolls. Most civilisation wide collapses that humans have experienced have often depended upon on mismanagement of natural resources. Anasazi seem likely to have...

    Optimizing A Bard

Re: Diplomacy While the ability to turn people from "hostile" to "neutral" may be useful many times, it must be remembered that there will also be times when there are other motivations behind the antagonists' actions. The oath-bound loyal defender of the King's chamber, aware of the...

Does turning invisible cancel out Glitterdust?

Nope. IMO, the glitterdust hangs around in the air, which would make the invisibility completely irrelevant, asyou would still the shape or outline of the character in question.

    How tough are your adventures?

I voted a 5, but maybe 4.5 would be more appropriate Because life is tough for the PC's. THe campaign is more political, and although I don't go out of my way to kill the PC's, the players are given tough choices, and the fights are tough. My players don't want to be pampered; they want to...
