    Hit point recovery

Our characters heal Level in HPs per hour of rest, but only if on positive hit points. Seems to work OK.

Considering a Star Wars SAGA House Rule...

So, SWRPG has been out, like, weeks and you already feel the need to houserule stuff. You guys have way too much time on your hands. And you seem impossible to please.

Vampires: Alternate form and energy drain?

If the BB vamp slammed them to death they would be Vamp Spawn and NPCs. Can't see the bad bloodsucker taking the time to drain them all to death.

Rogues: essential class or sacred cow?

I like playing rogues but about the only thing that doesn't sit right with me is Sneak Attack. The old backstab wasn't so bad but it is just daft now. Also, the proliferation of twinked rogue lookalikes make it even dafter. My answer? Play Runequest. Any character can do anything. Just...

    Deck of Many Things results

I wanted to give my players the opportunity to use a Deck and considered the PHB2 one. Very pretty. Trouble is, every card causes a rebuild of the character. Imagine someone drawing 3 of these puppies. "So, I've got to rebuild my character as a Halfling Half-Dragon Bard? Damn, I was just getting...

Fooling players who have memorized the MM

Ooh, dry oozes. That sounds sick and fun at the same time.

    Weapon Focus / Specialisation question

Sounds to me like you should be taking Weapon Focus: Mercurial Longsword, etc., just like you would if you used a Bastard Sword.

    DM or GM?

I generally use GM, mainly because I don't associate myself with the image of a short, bald geezer with a funny voice in a crap cartoon. I often use DM on ENWorld, though, just so everyone knows to what I am referring.

    Are DMs subsidizing player fun?

As my groups DMingest (if you can have winningest, it makes perverse sense to me) DM, I feel that it is my right to enjoy myself. I spend more time than the players in prep (actually, there is one player who probably does more than me but he doesn't get to use a fraction of the stuff he dreams...

Now is the season of our discontent?

[Stream of Consciousness] I have generally avoided the 'I'm done with xx' threads because I'm happy with the games I play/run. Then I read this thread and finally realised that... I'm not happy at all. Particularly with 3.5. I've played 1e, 2e, 3e and 3.5 and the progression has not been...

    Introducing Immediate and Swift actions?

Haven't seen much of a problem with either yet. They both arrived with the Exp. Psi Handbook and I have players using both sparingly. I guess that it makes it harder for me to set challenges when the psis start doing stuff Immediately, thwarting my best laid plans but such is the price of DMing...

House Rule #2: Calling the DM out.

I don't play with babies who can't understand the 'it's a game' concept. I don't play with people who don't trust me. I make a lot of my games up on the fly, mostly as a result of the players going off on tangents whenever I do any serious preparation, but partly through laziness. The...

Light Sources - Best Bang for Your Buck

Sling and lots of stones with continual flame cast on them. Granted, it's a bit of an outlay but you pick them up as you go.

Isn't Success in D&D Dependent Upon Murder?

However you choose to justify it, PCs break and enter, TWOC, mug, blow the heck out of things and (generally) gratuitously kill things and take their stuff. Including the Good ones. If you really want to play the alignment card, LG PCs wouldn't adventure, they would right wrongs. They wouldn't...

Light Sources - Best Bang for Your Buck

PC swamps the market, gets left with 9900 everburning torches in stock (a small warehouse full) or price drops below the cost to produce, PC gets pissed at DM, doesn't try to do anything like that again. Priceless.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Only time one of my gribblies used a spiked chain it was a Nalfeshnee (the gribbly, not the chain). Suffered from lack of Combat Reflexes but nice nonetheless. Let the PCs level a couple of times and I might do something similar, only somewhat more specialised.

Am I giving them enough treasure?

I'd give up with the treasure generator and give them stuff you want them to have. I use DMGenie and find that random treasure produces long lists of gems and the odd item, soI tailor most hoards I create. I tend not to give treasure based on what the players want. If they want it they can...

Why you shouldn't use 5 ft corridors

Common sense dictates to me that two PCs could be in the same 5' square and fight, however, having done 9thC re-enactment, fighting shoulder to shoulder, I would say: -2 to all attacks (probably skills as well), an extra -2 with slashing and bludgeoning weapons (swing like normal and you'll...

House Rule #2: Calling the DM out.

My reply rhymes with Grollocks. Possibly the most ridiculous idea I've seen on ENWorld, and there have been some doozies. I hope the OP was only taking the piss.
