    ship floor plans

Holy High Seas, Batman! And all for $15. I think I might get me one of them.

What if every round was a suprise round

I quite like the idea but I played 1e for 20+ years where everyone but fighters only got to do one thing per round (plus a little shuffling). This was the way we dealt with multiple attacks, and I think it would work for your suggestion. Basically, attacks are equally spread throughout the...

    1 on 1 adventures

Played and ran a lot of 1 on 1 in my youth, though it was 1 DM + 1 player with several PCs. Great fun was had, with the added joy of not having to wait for the other players to turn up. Could be difficult with 1 DM + 1 PC, unless you allowed a gestalt or were willing to do a lot of fudging.

    Headless Horseman

Any reason you didn't just say DC28?

    What is 'normal' for you?

There seem to be a lot of games (in this threads and others) where PCs don't die, at least not very often. Is this the result of DM die fudging, good players or a DM decision to have PCs 'knocked out' rather than killed?

    Jungle Road Construction

Definitely checkout the Japanese WW2 railway cut through SE Asia (a la Bridge Over the River Kwai).

    Most powerful non-magical class combo

Fighter/Rogue or Ranger/Rogue are both kickass but I'm currently having fun in WLD with a Fighter/Monk. Level 11, +17/+17/+17/+12/+7 doing 2d8+6, Crit 19, AC 28.

Fooling players who have memorized the MM

If I had a player like that EVERYTHING I threw at the party would be either my own creation or significantly different to MM. Actually, I think the other players would smack him down pretty quickly. No-one likes a smart arse.

d20 future, old guns and starting beyond level 1...

If the existing players have wealths of +13 or more they have no cause for complaint. The new character is poorer than they are. Tell them (or him, if it only one whingeing) to get a grip.

Can Demons and Devils have class levels?

It's my favourite way of spicing up an outside encounter. A few levels of fighter for mastery of an exotic weapon (spiked chain), a few levels of ranger for two-weapon feats, heck, even a few levels of paladin (IMC paladins can be any alignment - they are holy warriors. Plenty of evil gods)...

    What is 'normal' for you?

For my campaign: - 6 to 8 players + DM - not too worried about having player wealth above guidelines - more often than not any magic item is available provided the community wealth level is appropriate - sessions are about 6 hours in length on average - players limited to SRD with the odd...

Characters that can do more without being (much) more powerful?

Giving out more feats would depend on which feats were given. If a Fighter could take more feats he could become quite a lot more powerful and would hit the "got all the feats I want, what now?" point earlier. Perhaps, have a separate list of General Feats and give one of them every other level.

Sounds like it was a suicide to me.

    Stats at Character creation

Wow, that's generous. IMC I use 76 points, on a 1-for-1 basis and I thought that was generous, though I agree that at higher level the extra few points doesn't make that much difference. Historically, we generally used 4d6 drop lowest and the difference in characters produced was minimal, with...

    You have 3 wishes...

Can't see Wishes in 3.5 warping a game overly. Things to consider: 1. Who is granting the wish? They may have an agenda of their own and, as long as the wish is granted to the WORDS, the INTENTION may be twisted. 2. How did the player word the Wish? Make sure the player says the Wish out loud...

Fooling players who have memorized the MM

Fire-Proof Trolls. Shook the players up almost as much as the Flame-Retardent Mummies. My favourite trick is simply to take a small, inoffensive (to the current party, at least) creature and advance it. A Basilisk with an extra 10 or 12 dice, for example, making it a decent challenge for a...

Stupid High Skill Checks and Saves

I think I agree with much of the above. This might sounds like a rant but I've always used a 'Stream of Consciousness' technique for my writing. Sorry if it comes over as gibberish. My group includes both PCs with titanic Spot/Listen bonuses and pathetic ones. Huge Save bonuses and normal...

    New ways to pwn people

Great idea Hong. Unfortunately, my players don't mind leaving a trail of bodies. In fact, sometimes I think they are going for some sort of record. Might use it myself, all the same. What I will try to introduce is dismemberment rather than (or as well as) defeat. Perhaps, a simple table on...

    Death and Wealth

Blimey, my group seems really well-adjusted compared to some. We've never had anyone wishing another character dead just to get his stuff. Other in-game reasons, but not plunder. Even our evil rogues aren't stupid enough to sit back and watch the PCs carrying stuff they want die. In fact, I'd...
