    Gate + Time Stop

I think that if you cast a summon spell in a Time Stop the critters arrive when Time is back on. Might also work with a Gate. You cast the spell unhindered, rather than having to be defensive - bit of overkill using the Time Stop but if you've got it flaunt it.

Penguin-type PC races out there?..and an F.Realms question.

Aquatic Kenku? Pingu? I remember the Ducks in Runequest (we unofficially made them extinct, it was such a crap idea) so why shouldn't there by Penguins? Wasn't there a game with Killer Penguins? Pretty sure Irregular Miniatures did a figure.

What Historical Analogous Era is your campaign set in?

Well, I voted Renaissance because that's the way the last few sessions have felt. Thing is, my 'world' is set in the far future of Erth, thousands of years after worldwide cataclysms/war destroyed most of the population and created weird mutants (orcs, elves, etc.). There are vestiges of...

Some players shouldn't play certain PC types

IME the players who most want to be the diplomats are the ones least suitable, i.e., the ones who want to roll for Diplomacy without actually doing any Roleplaying. Then again, not all DMs are particularly adept at social interaction so I'm not going to throw any stones.

+2 to cha and no counter balance stat: LA +0

I think the OP's idea of +2 CHA for no LA is unbroken but, being the cynical type I am, I would question the motives behind the question. Moon-Lancer, if you are thinking of a new race for your campaign then I'd say do it if you want, it won't cause you any problems, besides having fewer Human...

Why do you use LA in your campaign?

The main problem I see with not using LAs is that templated/monster PCs could be so much more powerful than standard ones of the saem experience that all PCs would be templated/monster races. This would mean having to beef up encounters to suit, making life very difficult for any player...

AoO: How are they so confusing?!

Having Cleave give you free AoO only partially fixes the problem I saw when the big butch fighter got attacked by many Tiny Constructs. In your option, he would drop the first one that attacked then cleave/free AoO the 2nd one, then use up his Combat Reflexes AoOs on the next 2 or 3. Or do you...

How best to remove XP costs?

Interestingly, we've had a discussion on doing almost the opposite - allowing PCs to buy off the need for expensive material components with XP. Specific example: a PC Cleric desperately wants to Raise a dead comrade but hasn't got 5000GP of diamonds handy. He can burn XP to cast the spell -...

Smite Evil as Part of a Full Attack?

So, would you allow a Paladin with more than one Smite to use the ability on more than one attack in a Full Attack? I would (and have done it myself) but am interested what you guys think.

    1 PC Adventure Paths

Are you guys all assuming 1 PC on his own? Why not assume 1 PC and 3 or 4 NPC's - cohorts, hirelings, etc? Or 1 player running 2 or more PCs? Makes it much less difficult to find suitable APs.

    Loch Ness Monster

I always thought that picture looked like someone swimming. IMC the LNM may or may not exist. There is, however, an aquatic beastie somwthing in size between Manhatten and the Isle of Man. The PCs have been inside it but didn't do much exploring.

    Cleric Weretiger - Righteous Might

Good catch Frank, but a Huge Weretiger sounds damn impressive to me.

AoO: How are they so confusing?!

IMO the perceived problems (previously discussed at some length in a variety of threads) generally boil down to two things: 1. The definition of Moving. 2. Players who don't take 5' steps then get all "Why did that guy hit me? I only [insert AoO-provoking action here]! That's a crap rule!", or...

What are the best Planar Bindings?

Same thing, I guess. You get standard ones until you successfully research non-standard ones. What am I letting myself in for?

Can a creature with burrow and fly speeds....

I'd probably allow it if the dragon was flying at its Burrow speed upon impact. Possibly, no more than half. It would look fantastic, though. Of, course, anyone riding it gets trimmed off during the transition.

Last Saga preview: what's D&D's Starship Combat?

Magic Carpets and Wands of Scorching Ray/Lightning Bolt sounds like Star Wars to me. Add in unarmoured types with glowing swords and the image is almost complete.

    Int Gain

The 'Inherent' bonus from reading a Tome of Clear Thought would give more skill points at later levels but 'non-permanent' increases from items would not.

What are the best Planar Bindings?

In my capacity as PS's DM I'll add my 2p. I think that if you cast the Binding to get a, say, Hound Archon, you would get a random standard one. If you spend the time researching and asking questions of other bound Archons, you may get information that enables you to call a specific Hound...

List all of your character names! *read the instructions*

Ooh, ohh, just remembered. Thruda, human, female (Barbarian - Runequest) - rode a bison called Foxbat 'cos it was big and fast but wouldn't turn (MiG 25). Grinda, human, female (Barbarian - Runequest) Plays Well With Others, Dragonewt, none yet (Runequest) Flechette, Elf, male (Runequest) Tut...

List all of your character names! *read the instructions*

Ok, ok. I've edited my earlier post to conform to the rules (first time for everything). Some more: Leroy Matsushita, human, male (Cyberspace) Vulcanas de Cannith, human, male (Eberron) Charity Robespierre, human, female (Traveller 2300) Tiffany Chamberlain, human, female (D20 Modern) Lucrezia...
