    Centaurs and carrying capacity

Would it matter that the centaur is effectively a hexapod with the front two legs used as arms?

[Venting] I feel a bit dirty...

Actually, doing away with alignment is something I have been thinking about for some time but can't quite reconcile everything affected. More thought needed. Nice rant though.

    middle age swords

I think I will have to get my sword out tonight and weigh it. I'm sure it is less than 2lb with a blade length of at least 3' (granted, it is modern spring steel, rather than authentic early 'middle age' steel). I was always much better with a spear but it doesn't require the same amount of...

    Extra Arms Template

I think there's one in the Green Ronin Advanced Bestiary but can't be sure. Plenty of useful templates in there, anyway.

PrC’s, one at a time or for dipping?

I'm really glad I am not including PrCs in my campaign. I seem to have saved myself a world of hurt (and none of my players has complained. Well, only one and then only once).

PrC’s, one at a time or for dipping?

If a Prestige Class is so Prestigeous shouldn't you want to stick with it rather than taking the goodies and heading off to another 'Prestige' Class? Maybe there should be another name for them. Advanced Class?

But you said it so much nicer. :)

    Greatest roll ever

As a bit of an aside, the worst series of rolls I ever saw was one player rolling 7 (seven!) 1s in a row. Best was 3 20s followed by a hit - back in 1e when rolling a 20 to confirm meant rolling again so, quad damage! Then there was the time we walked into a hanger with a Rancor in the middle...

    Prismatic Sphere

Heh, heh. A 17th level caster is only 5 levels above the average of the party. :D

    middle age swords

Just had a look at a few of the articles there (very interesting website, it is too) and some of what I said was there, specifically 'pommeling' - 2 handed bastard sword technique to punch through armour. Didn't know that an arming sword was a long cavalry sword, often used for thrusting, but...

    Basic GM mistakes

#33 (and the worst DM mistake I can think of) Don't be a jerk. If you want everything to be to your wishes, write a book.

    Can monsters make unarmed strikes?

Dragons doing non-lethal damage? Fine by me. I really like the idea of a dragon striking to subdue. Payback for 1e. Can't understand how you could get NL damage from a mouth full of sharp spikes, though. Maybe the aging dragon could take its teeth out as a move action then give you a good gumming.

    Help with Planar Binding Spells

As DM for PS's summoner, I'd like to comment upon his ideas. Good use for the spell if you have time to prepare. Another good use. The outsider gets away quickly and is less likely to harbour simmering resentment, unless it feels the task too far beneath it, of course. :] Ooh, yeah. Bit...

    Help with Planar Binding Spells

Having gone away and read the rules I now realise I was confusing Planar Ally for Planar Binding. Oops. :heh: I shall now have another think.

    OotS #440

Heh, heh, 'original recipe, or extra crispy', heh, heh. Dang, I wish I could come up with lines like that every week. (fondly remembers the odd moments when robberbaron-inspired jocularity reigned across the gaming table - 'Pimp my Blimp' and the 'Battering Lamb' come to mind).

Character Names - How Do You Come Up With Yours?

Generally, names just 'come to me' (though it may just be the voices) and get honed until I think they fit the character. The better ones come when I have time to think. Characters created on the spur of the moment (replacements for dead ones) tend to be less 'imaginative'. Examples: an Elf...

    middle age swords

The best description of medieval swords I've come across was "sharpened crowbars". AFAI recall, medieval swords were all slashing weapons, relying on weight and impetus to batter a foe down - the european weapons, anyway. I have a vague recollection of the bastard sword being a hand-and-a-half...

    Homemade Dungeon Tiles?

Don't do it so much now but, before we started using a wipe-clean battlemat, I used to draw rooms out in Powerpoint and lay them out as necessary. There are loads of dungeon accessory bitmaps out in the interweb and I just pasted in the ones I wanted. I've drawn a few plans on paper and cut...

    Basic GM mistakes

All great advice. Edit to #5: Players may not play themselves but most players, IME, always play the same 'character', regardless of class, race or alignment. #23. Always assume your players are going to look at a problem in a different way to you. #24. Don't worry about being sent out of...
