D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

yes, he always has fun with his videos. I do like that he discuss the "reality" of these and how that relates to fantasy game. Like how he thinks unarmed combat is to good (compared to armed combat), but he is OK with it because it fits the fantasy vibe.

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

He does move a lot, but I do find his videos fun and informative.

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

That seems like a missed opportunity to me (the bold part). As @Snarf Zagyg 's recent article illustrates, the fighter has lost a lot of its niche. Making weapon tricks tied to fighter class seems to make a lot of sense to me and helps give their niche back. Now, I wouldn't mind a feat...

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

General points: D&D doesn't match RL regarding the importance of reach ( a few inches difference matter in RL) you only need the necessary strength to wield a weapon in RL. Dex is the main factor in hitting (with any weapon) in RL. Simple vs martial can be odd and not match RL unarmed is...

D&D General D&D weapons vs reality

I don't know his full HEMA creds, but I have watched some of his short videos and he is an amazing archer (changed my mind on what an archer should be able to do in D&D) and appears to be honest and forthright. His video (about 2 min) on the importance, or lack thereof, of size was interesting...

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

I've never seen a 1e fighter without 18 in both (though we didn't use % strength back then)

Huma Before the Lance: The Dark Patrol now released on DMSGUILD!

@RAKNAAK , I agree with Distracted DM here. Maybe suggest to your team to put a brief description of the adventure in the product write up.

D&D 5E (2024) NPCs, and the poverty of the core books

The issue there is not Arcane Burst, but that the Archmage can cast it 4x per round. I think WotC made some bad choices with spellcasting creatures in 5e24. That is not how I would do it.

D&D 5E (2024) NPCs, and the poverty of the core books

I am going to second @Micah Sweet on this one. I, as DM, enjoy world building first, time with my friends 2nd, and engaging adventures/campaigns 3rd. They are interrelated and I value all of them, but that is my personal order of enjoyment. So I want my world to make sense as a world first and...

Huma Before the Lance: The Dark Patrol now released on DMSGUILD!

Added to my cart! First DMsGuild product Months! PS Kaz the Minotaur and The Legend of Huma are my two favorite books outside the original trilogy (maybe even better than those in some areas).

Huma Before the Lance: The Dark Patrol now released on DMSGUILD!

I don't remember if @Micah Sweet likes Dragonlance, but this is how I believe they want to see the DMs Guild used: quality 3PP content in classic TSR / WotC settings!

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Do you not see that is what you are suggesting? At least that is how I see it. Unless you have a draft you can share I will not believe it otherwise.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Demanding maybe, but wanting the game to be designed how you want to play it is hardly odd.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

By them not being levels you make them 2nd class citizens and that never goes well I guess I simply don't believe you yet. Until I see a draft of actual rules / guidelines I simple don't see what you are trying to do that can't be done equally as well or better with levels. Keep in mind that...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Yep, It is not that it can't be done, but the bold part is going to be really hard. Heck, when I suggest novice levels should be actual levels, @EzekielRaiden says no, no they shouldn't be actual levels, they should be incremental advancement. As if that is a better solution than starting at...

Pathfinder 2E I played my first PF2e game this week. Here's why I'm less inclined to play again.

Sorry, I need to clarify that I was not talking about PF2e. I was talking about my 5e14 homebrew game

Pathfinder 2E I played my first PF2e game this week. Here's why I'm less inclined to play again.

I have been thinking about using a modified 3 action system where you get your base movement for free (and like 5e can use it before, in-between, or after your actions). You then spend your action points on actions like PF2, but you also need to spend an action point on reactions. So no action...
