    Me too. I don't know why I think it is less likely than simply a vibe. However, if the recent UA does turn out to herald a return of Dark Sun, then the vibe may start to shift IMO. I will wait and see!

    What does that mean to you. I ran a 5e game to 17th level and it never felt like superhero wuxia to me. So I feel like we have different definitions of that term.

    Sure, but it doesn't "need" to be that way. We cap at 18 and I have a level 17 character (Rogue) with a max stat of 16. They game actually works better, IMO, with less bonuses. You can achieve that with lower stats or less magic items or both (like we do)!

    Like I said, this medium his hard. It is completely possible you took their words as being rude and they never saw them that way and never intended them to be that way. It is the nature of the medium.

    I don't see any need to start with such high ability scores. A 16 works fine in 5e. We have toyed with making that the max too (since AD&D maxed at +3 to ability score it would match that).

    That doesn't work because of below. No, but we never really considered that idea actually. The whole point is to have half a feat coupled with a modest increase to ability. You can't have a half feat if you combine to half feats.

    Yep, we currently cap ability scores at 18 in my game. If you want something above 18 you need a magic item to get you there.
