D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

I'm playing a mostly 2024 game, with one 2014 subclass (Bladesinger), in Curse of Strahd, with no issues. As much as I would of like some deeper changes (ability score vs modifiers), the goal of backwards compatibility worked out pretty well.

D&D 5E (2024) Fighter, support and defense builds

If your willing to go a little outside pure martial. Human, Cha, Con Warlock 1 + Devotion paladin Musician, Alert Pact the blade Inspiring leader Telekinetic Sentinel +Cha to land Sap and Sentinel bonus action to push allies out of harms way (or an enemy, but they get a save). And some heals...

If your human, you can take Alert as well as Musician, and still hand out inspiration, if not as often.

D&D General Race Has No Mechanics. What do you play?

That would still require weapon and armor. Though the idea of a swarm of bees casting Conjure Humanoid is fun. Then I could send the humans into traps and have them scout dangerous monsters...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

I randomly played an Artificer, which handed out +1 magic weapon buffs. And your assuming the DM had a whole 20 levels planned out, and needs to be aware of Jackalwere before he starts a game. Is it that hard to imagine that a DM might give a magic weapon for completing the first quest, then...

D&D General Race Has No Mechanics. What do you play?

There are, of course, other swarm of bees, but I may be the first sentient one. I don't know. However, I am hostile towards stupid swarms (int less than 2). So I kill them and take their nest for my children, and that is the main reason I travel. Hoping that they will grow to be intelligent...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

I'm not. Your missing my argument. that's the issue. The "if" is probably 50/50. The first time you encounterrd them you didn't have a magic weapon. The first time I encountered them I did. And the same thing can be done with Silvered weapons. Or any other more interesting thing that your...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

And if you had a magic weapon it wouldn't of been very interesting. For instance, my first experience with werewolves was 3.5 whej i was playing an Artificer and kept handing out +1 magic weapon buffs. Werewolves just seemed like slightly tougher goblins. No puzzles to solve. I didn't...

D&D General Race Has No Mechanics. What do you play?

Either Shardmind or a Swarm of bee's. Because if there are no mechanical issues might as well be exotic. Give myself a role-playing challenge.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 - Do magic weapons bypass resistance now?

IMO "get magic weapon" was never a puzzle. It's not like going out of your way to find wolfbane, adding silver to your weapons, or coating it in wyvern venom. You would simply use any +1 weapon you could find as soon as you could. Irrelevant of what creature you where against. Also, if your...

Not that I'm aware of. Even the Rakshasa lost it's weapon resistance, replaced with double the hit points.

They no longer help beyond the +1. But less monsters have BPS resistance.

D&D 5E (2024) Multiclassing: Slots and Prepared Spells

not sure why that matters Eldritch knight/ arcane Trickster draw from the same list, but won't get high level spells. If it's a level you can prepare as a single class wizard. Maybe? I guess it depends on if you consider "replacing" different from "preparing". No idea why that second...

D&D 5E (2024) Multiclassing: Slots and Prepared Spells

Correct. As a level 3 wizard would. And a level 3 wizard only has level 2 slots, and thus can only prepare level 2 spells. Multiclass rules don't say anything about casting rituals from your book however. Or replacing spells you already had prepared. But I'm sure the intention is to limit...

IMO Optimizer: enjoys doing math and puzzles. Power Gamer: enjoys being more powerful than others. You can be one or the other, or both. You can generally tell the difference by suggesting they can play a support build. an optimizer might maximize healing. A power gamer might say no. both they...

A moment too late, but the wizard subclass Savant features should not say. "The chosen spell must be of a level for which you have spell slots." Should be "A level you can prepare" Because multiclassing.
