    Genericizing The Monk

I'm sure I can't be the only one who doesn't like the Oriental Adventures theme of the monk. I haven't yet but I will be making a medieval Europe unarmed fighter. Who here has tried making a monk that would fit more in Grayhawk or other such settings? How did it go? Post your different unarmed...

How to resist mind control and mind reading?

I'm sure any attempt at reading my mind would result in insanity. I've got Iä Iä stuck in my head. *humming* Iä Iä - O Shub Niggurath! / I know I just can't resist you

Did I discover the Left Wing and Right Wing of D&D gaming styles?

I'd place myself in the middle, probably closer to the traditionalist side. I probably would allow a Brawler/Grappler/Other unarmed combatant class, but no monk. Of course, the Halflings have bladed boomerangs and the elves are racist, but I'd still put myself on the traditionalist side.

Does anyone know where I could get a quality, cheap battlemat?

The combat in my game could be a little more structured, so I want a battle mat. I'm thinking of a kind which one can use with a sharpie and a wet/dry cloth as well as miniatures. Does anyone know a quality battlemat I could obtain for less than or around $20?

Do you miss old D&D class names?

I prefer the new class names over the old ones. Wizard is better than Magic User because Magic User sounds too generic. Wizard feels like fantasy. Rogue is better than thief for the opposite reason. While thief is a more focused name, it has connotations and limits creativity.

Help me with my homebrew/Myth Adventures adaption!

Thanks for the advice - I had forgotten about Trollia. I hadn't added Pervects because I thought they would be LA+ races. I'll do some revisions and post the updated list later.

Help me with my homebrew/Myth Adventures adaption!

I know there are quite a few Thieves World fans here on ENWorld, but has anyone heard of Myth Adventures, by the editor of Thieves World? I enjoyed the series so I thought I'd try my hand at a conversion for my latest campaign. Can anyone help balance these races? I thought some of them looked a...

Tell me about shoggoths in your campaign

My investigators have a hard enough time escaping blithering insanely from Deep Ones, I couldn't bring myself to throw a shoggoth at them.

You've got physics in my D&D!

Saving at the epicenter of a fireball? Quite simple... the character jumps and clings to the ceiling.

    If WotC publishes more adventures....

I'm personally against the idea of mega-adventures. I mean, if they produce one mega-adventure a year, and that one is for Eberron, the FR and Greyhawk players are screwed for a year. IMO, they should produce say, 4 Eberron, 4 FR, and 4 Greyhawk adventures a year, giving module campaigns a...

Dwarves rock, Half-orcs suck! - An analysis

Half-orcs do indeed suck. However, for a good Half-Orc race, use the ones from the Warcraft RPG. I doubt it's open gaming content, so I'll paraphrase: +2 Con -2 Wis - +40 -40 Low Light Vision - +20 +1 racial on saves vs. Fear - +5 +2 racial on intimidate and sense motive - +20 Total: +45...

Fantasy Toys - what do you have?

I don't have Legos, although I'd like to, as they make fun-tastic minis. I suspect my lack of them is due to the lack of "100 random minifigs - $5" and the growth of "X playset, including 3 minifigs - $10".

    Another Core Class

In my humble opinion, I think that Archer should be a core class in 4E, along with a Base Ranged Attack Bonus. I think that you need two generic fighter types, and who can fight well with an axe might not be able to handle a bow.

    Pronounciation: Ghaele and Couatl

Ioun rhymes with moon? I thought it was pronounced somewhat like Ion! WoTC should start putting pronunciation guides after words like that. :heh:
