    Lost on an Island question

It doesn't really matter too much to me... I'd take the 3.5e PHB, but when you're stuck on an island and waiting for rescue, there's plenty of time to design your own system. On paper made out of coconut trees.

    This thing just rocks.

From A - Acte-yggoigu to Z - Zoigotu, the Lovecraft name generator is perfect! Need a generic blasphemous false god? How about Mmeke-yilot, the God who...*thinks*...engineered the Great Race of Yith, using their research to increase his massive intelligence until the day the stars are right...

    Classes for new players

*starts humming Lupin III theme* Lupin the thiiiiiiiird, Lupin the thiiiiiiiird! What a great show. Are there any game systems which would do that well?

    World's Largest Dungeon?

Interesting. Sounds like Nethack. "You've played the 100 level dungeon on your monitor in full color ASCII graphics, now use your imagination and play it at the table!" If done right, I'd love to run it or play it. 1600 encounters.... I hope not all are hostile... :)

    Monte on covers

I dunno. I somewhat like the class splat-books for combining the faux cover and the illustration. I really don't care that much about the cover, but I really liked the full page illustrations in the 2ed books. They made it feel a lot more authentic than any faux cover could ever for me.

    Silven Crossroads/Harry Potter RPG speculation

I imagine that the reason why Harry-PC or Hermione-PC can't cast some sort of spell to remove Death Eater's bones is due to the fact that in HP, magic is somewhat hard. The imposter Moody teaches the students the words to the Unforgivable Curses, but none of them could actually do it. Harry's...

    Call of Cthulhu

DM: Under the Innsmouth stars, you can see 3 dark shadows in the night. The middle one seems to be about a foot taller than the other ones, standing about 7 feet tall with a reptillian posture. Investigator: Wait, the Deep One in the center looks bigger than the others? DM: Yes, it looks...

Would you be willing to play in a campaign setting with none of the core races?

I'd love to play a Redwallian campaign, as long as the characters were actually similar to the animals they represent. I don't want Humans with cat traits, I want badgers with human traits, the human traits being limited to intelligence and posture.

Looting the looters (my group stay out!)

A strange item - Examining it, it has no discernable purpose, but it's made of gold and is very shiny. There is dust on nearby objects but it is perfectly clean. It radiates magic. Actually, it has no purpose, and it's not made of gold, it's a worthless metal enchanted to/really looks like...

    RB: Removing a mentor

What I would have done is, instead of removing the mentor, I would cripple him. He'd still be alive, if they really needed his help, but his legs would be broken so he'd be stuck at a base camp unless they make a lift for him and carry him everywhere they go. If they need his help really badly...

[Slightly OT] Help finding a thread/link?

I think I remember seeing a link thread to a webpage with cute/anime-ish drawings of Cthulhu mythos creatures in General, does anyone have a link? I can't do topic search. Sorry if this is off-topic, but I figured this would be the most topical board to post on.

    Creeping crud

Creeping crud, Crawling Chaos, they're pratically the same anyway. Just throw your players against Nyarlothotep. They won't be able to tell the difference.

What are YOU going to be for Halloween???

I'm going to be a low-budget (read: cardboard) robot. I was thinking of a Cthulhu mythos creature, but I think that'll have to wait for next year.
