    Assassin Feedback

I sent the following to WotC Since assassins only have weapon attacks, the Ki Focus write-up is in error and is confusing. I suggest a wholesale re-write from: Assassins focus their shadow energy through a ki focus, which is not an object they wield but a reservoir of magical power within...

    No Character Builder Update

    1. I am annoyed because i have no received what I was promised. 2. WotC promised, through the DDi web site, a monthly update with books appearing the month after publication and Dragon/Dungeon articles with one-month delay. 3. The EULA addresses software updates, not necessarily content...

    No Character Builder Update

    1. I am very disappointed. 2. I am, however, not terribly surprised. 3. WotC has over-promised and under-delivered. Again. (Virtual Gaming Table, anyone??) <Sigh.> There is a fair bit of material I'd like to see published in CB/Compendium. The last Dragon issue, for example. <Heavy sigh.>

Human Heroic Effort versus Elven Accuracy

It's not really fair to include feats into the comparison, as that is a great unknown for humans at this point. For all we know, some feast to improve Heroic Effort are right around the corner.

    Look Ma- Rules Updates!

Ive heard those 15+ feats mentioned, but I have not yet seen them. I qualify for the REF and WILL feats, but not FORT. He already does not grant CA for being flanked, so Uncanny Dodge is of limited use, but thanks. That's just the sort of flavor I am going for.

    Look Ma- Rules Updates!

I assume that was directed at me and my monk. Thanks for the suggestion. As I am using a club (for more flurry damage) and a Rhythm Blade (dagger) for an extra flurry target, it be a bad choice for me. Unless I can think of something, I am just sucking it up - still, I gained more than I...

    "Essentials Only" possible in CB?

It might be possible to run "Essentials Only," but that would be a pretty simple game with many, many options left out since you'd have no PH, PH2, etc., etc.

    Look Ma- Rules Updates!

For those who care... My 17th level monk, as a result of these changes, ended up with -1 damage, -1 AC, +1 REF, +2 WILL/FORT. I dropped two-weapon fighting (+1 damage that no longer applied), two-weapon defense (+1 REF/AC, but not worth taking a feat with virtually zero effect) and paragon...

    Cloak of the Walking Wounded

Whatever - each person has his/her own mental model, I suppose. I tend to think of a fairly heavy thing with a big chain that is worn tucked into ones short/doublet, or whatever to keep it is place. I don't think D&D has on official position on this :)

    Cloak of the Walking Wounded

Perhaps the amulet chain is long enough so one simply pulls it up over one's head? Easy as pie. Only necklaces that are fairly short need a clasp at all. The "typical" fantasy amulet one sees in movies (etc.) is of the type with a long chain, with perhaps no clasp at all. I think of these as...

    Cloak of the Walking Wounded

The best i can come up with is it would work like this (legally): Pre-combat 1. Put on amulet. 2. Put on cloak (amulet still working as it was the first item put on in the neck slot) Combat: When wounded and need healing. Minor Action: rogue attack like Low Slash Free Action: drop hand...

    Third party publishing and Essentials

Essential is part of 4e, and, as far as I know, falls under all the same intellectual property rules as the rest of 4e. It's not a separate game.

    I killed a character, twice!

It was an unfortunate turn of events, that's true, but fudging die rolls when the Players know you are doing so is a very bad idea. Players need to know that PCs may die. Without that, plays will not play as well as they would otherwise. In this case, she has no legitimate complaint of being...

Banning Versatile Expertise makes for more lively combats?

Cool narration is nice, but should not be required. Rewarding cool narration is the same as penalizing those without as much imagination, and that's a bad thing. The rewards for cool narration should be minor and not really affect the game greatly.

    D&D 4E 4e and reality

4e, more so than any version of D&D since the original, sacrifices realism for playability. In particular ,4e sacrifices things for balance, so tweaking and adding various house rules can easily have unintended consequences where one class or race get affected more than others. Of course, the...

    More Essentials teasers

I suspect the train ticket costs more than a plane ticket.

    Essentials - calling a spade a spade

What many people miss is the new philosophy of 4e. 4e is a living game in the sense that the rules are designed to be updated as needed. Essential updates the rules. That's all. It really is that simple.

Do You Plan To Use Essentials In Your Game (No '4.5 Edition Sucks' Plz, Kthx)

Something Essentials won't solve (DDI rant) and proposals for new char. sheet format

I stand alone... ? Am I alone in liking the CB character sheets? Not that I don't think they could be better, but I like the general format. I do think they should have multiple formats from which to select, though. But I am reasonable happy with it as is. I have many more issues with...
