    Ampersand countdown!

I'm supposed to be printing off everything that comes out of Winter Fantasy to pass around my D&D group.

WotC_PeterS: Charecter Names NEW: Town/Location Names

It's now going to be a struggle not to throw in a town called Hamletburg, or something similarly asinine.

    Dragon Editorial: Fearless

Sort of like how nothing in a family chain restaurant is going to be genuinely spicy, no matter what lies the little clipart pepper tells me.

    PHB classes: fact or rumor

Maybe we'll find out more from Winter Fantasy?

Races and Classes Art Gallery at Wizards

We need words for all of those qualities. I like eladrinity. Tieflingness, though, should maybe just be Tief. "That guy can stick his hand in a fire and not get burned, he's got a lot of tief in him." "He's really tiefy." I think this could be a boundless source of amusement.

    Dragon Editorial: Fearless

You know, there was a throwaway line somewhere, in one of the D&D articles, about there being more incentives to keep going past the "15 minute workday." I think that suggests more than just second winds and per-encounter powers. I really suspect that there's some kind of shift in the XP or...

Races and Classes Art Gallery at Wizards

Does that dragonborn look to anybody else like he needs some kind of bite attack? His teeth and jaw structure seem to kind of suggest it.

    D&D 4E Copyrights, NDAs and 4e "demos"

Well, those sound like the good parts. I kind of wish I'd booted more people. I had a stinky guy and I just started spraying him with lemon lysol until he fled the room....that probably wasn't actually a great idea, in retrospect.

D&D 4E So, which class will end up being the -Zilla of 4e?

Now here's the real kick in the pants: If CharOp goes into team-building, then guess what? GMs get to do the same thing. We're going to be throwing multiple monsters at the party at once, along with trap/terrain effects. I think there's going to be an "encounter optimization" arms race...

    Perception v. Spot

Could well be. I'm expecting that each skill will have a number of subheadings or paragraphs with the different uses for it - much like the current books. Some of those uses will be trained, some will be untrained. PCs may be able to focus in some uses but not in others. Or, perhaps skill...

Have you ever ejected people from a con for poor hygiene?

    D&D 4E Copyrights, NDAs and 4e "demos"

Sir, I do not envy you your job, even with the substantial fringe benefit of getting to see the game before we do. I organized a few small-scale cons back at my university (as VP of the gaming club, it was part of my position,) and it's not something I would ever care to do again, let alone on...

    D&D 4E Copyrights, NDAs and 4e "demos"

What we really need to do is find two or three persons going there that we can rely on for serious, unbiased analysis. I know this sounds kind of elitist, but some smart folks, with a background in something like journalism, or game design, or similar. People who could really quantify and...

    D&D 4E Copyrights, NDAs and 4e "demos"

I don't think they'll bother. They can throw out any kind of NDA they want, but at that point there's too many people with the info, too much anonymity, etc. It's also close enough to the release date that it'll matter less. I think at that point, if they're confident in their product and...

    Worlds and Monsters Art Gallery

I really prefer the landscape art. It plays up adventurers as brave explorers, rather than just killing machines. Don't get me wrong, there should be the occasional battle, or menacing confrontation, or aftermath scene. But I looove the landscapes. And, yes, WotC: We would like some...

New Dungeoncraft: The Dungeons of Greenbrier Chasm

Bolding mine, because it stands out as especially brilliant. It took me way too long to learn this. Don't hide what the damn game is about and then pull the rabbit out of your hat. TELL the players what the game is going to be about, negotiate it with them. Let them invest in it. Also, LOL.

D&D 4E So, which class will end up being the -Zilla of 4e?

Well, it looks like they've tried to bring most attacks into line with damage-dealing. That's how they measure classes against each other, and it's the standard they're going with. It's why undead turning is probably going to mostly deal damage, poison is going to deal damage, weakening...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

This is the sort of thing I'd like to see more of in my campaigns once high levels are reached. So, I'm hoping 4E gives me a toolset suited to that purpose. Like rituals and high-end social combat effects.

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

Is an asteroid falling on you really an "attack?" I think "causes damage" =/= "attack." It might be more of a natural disaster. Fortunately, there are athletics charms that would let you jump out of the way, if you have them. I could be wrong, I'm hardly an expert on Exalted.
