    Exotic zombies at WotC

Ha! No kidding. One of the big villains in one of my old campaigns was a half-fiend troll with a single level of Barbarian. The PCs wouldn't go near him, despite my half-mocking admonishment, "He's *only* CR 8!" They were trying to figure out a way to pin him underwater so he'd drown, but...

H2 name changed to 'Thunderspire Labyrinth'

Labyrinth of Lost Souls was waaay better. And having the acronym be LOLS was harmless amusement.

    Exotic zombies at WotC

I do begin to tire of the [word+word]SPACE[Creature type] naming scheme. I realize it's probably tough to come up with names for this many weird critters, but it still feels kinda hokey after a while.

    Speculating on Claw/Claw/Bite

Spreading a creature's damage-dealing capacity out over three lesser attacks rather than one big one tends to make it more predictable in combat - exactly the kind of thing you want to do if you're after game balance.

    Zombies! New Dungeoncraft article up

See, now if they just fix Vampires I'll be happy. I would like vampires that are, y'know, bloodsucking fiends. Get rid of the level-draining slam attack and put the fangs back in there.

The Shared Experience: Keep on the Borderlands

I didn't start seriously playing until the early-to-mid nineties. I ran into the Keep much later. I've DMed it a couple times since then, and never played it. I still use it as inspiration. The HackMaster version, btw, is Brilliant.

D&D 4E What 4E class do you most want to try out?

I'm a Wizard man, tried and true. But I would like to give running a Paladin a shot, if the rules for them are good, and I had the right GM and players around...

Condition track - wishful thinking, rumor or confirmed?

IIRC, you're only dead at zero if the hit that took you there was ALSO higher than your damage threshhold. And I believe WotC already confirmed death is at -10, so it's a non-issue anyway.

    New Dukes of Hell article

I suppose, with the new edition, they have a chance to finally clean up the entire CR spectrum. I know that CR is no longer really a part of the game, but there's something similar replacing it. I would really like them to plan this out better beforehand this time. Eliminating extra-core Epic...

Condition track - wishful thinking, rumor or confirmed?

They work pretty well in SWSE. I'm sort of suspecting that Bloodied takes the place of the Track, since they might be going too fast-play to have two separate condition measures like that. This will make me Very Sad.

Can you define the role of the Balor?

Gah! Watch the red text, I thought you'd modded out on me for a split second.

    Chaotic Neutral Copper Dragon?

I've never really thrown enough Dragons around to warrant meddling much with their stats. I try to keep them so rare that they're exceptional anyway. Still, I would have done it in a heartbeat if I thought it was warranted, so I don't mind WotC doing it. It is, again, a rule that's childishly...

Can you define the role of the Balor?

Is 'make the party crap themselves' a viable answer? Because that's what I'd use him for. Seriously, though, I'm guessing him and the pit fiend are both tri-athletes, the pit fiend maybe being a mastermind type as well.

What would you like to see brought back from older editions?

Good for you! That's pretty badass.

    How soon will you switch?

Well, the plan is for the game I'm currently playing in to stop next summer, so the GM can take a break if not end it on some big climax. He's been running for a couple years now, he deserves a break. I've agreed to run 4E and put it through its paces, so we can decide whether to continue 3.x...

DMG to include a "starter town".

Well, I think that you could fit a wordcount comparable to the 3E adventure game into a book the size of a monthly issue of KoDT, but I might be wrong. Even if I am mistaken, a pamphlet-sized adventure module + pregens + town, handed out gratis in gaming stores with the PHB , would be both...

DMG to include a "starter town".

You know, I thought about this for a while last night. I think WotC needs to go farther. Anybody remember the little starter-package WW put out for the new version of Mage? It was a little saddle-stitched pamphlet, on paper that was better than newsprint but not amazing. You could pick it up...

That sounds pretty damn sweet. I may have to look into this.

Experience Points and D&D Economy - What I'd Like To See

Don't get me wrong, I love original Conan. And those rules are a great place to start if you want to emulate the fiction. The stuff I'm talking about is for building keeps/raising armies...big stuff like that. A lot of people aren't too big a fan of that, but I hired a score of mercenaries...
