    Tiers Excerpt (merged)

I get pretty tired of GMs complaining that this spell or that spell "ruins their plot." You know what the solution to that is? Don't have a plot. Have compelling NPCs and organizations and whatnot in the world who are trying to do varying things. Trap the PCs in the middle and let them make...

    Daily Art Preview

If Dragonborn can grow wings, I'd sort of want Tieflings to be able to do so as well. I mean, I'll probably end up playing a Tiefling, and being able to get a set of sweet devil-wings would be pretty awesome.

D&D 4E From the 4e MM preview: Astraljamming?!

Now I'm picturing the Olympic Gods involved in some kind of grandiose contest to build and race the fastest possible astral vessel, to win respect and their sweethearts and stuff. There'd be musical numbers and John Travolta would play Hermes... I think I'll call it "Greece."

    Stat Penalties/Damage?

Generally, he was there to beat on the now-pathetically-weak monster until it died, while my Sorcerer kicked back and smoked some pipeweed.

    Stat Penalties/Damage?

Well, I suppose I'll miss using the occasional maximized Ray of Enfeeblement to put the kibosh on something...but it'll be good for my GM's blood pressure overall. Also, I won't miss having a pack of wraiths come out of the wall and dog-pile con damage on some poor sap with a crappy touch AC.

D&D 4E From the 4e MM preview: Astraljamming?!

I heartily approve of this. In fact, I'd almost be willing to ban most other methods of astral/interplanar travel. Even the Gods themselves have to get a great big fancy boat and sail to the Prime Material if they want to go there. Also, this gives the PCs something else to blow money on...

Skill challenges and the player with 'brain freeze'

I run my game for adults. If they want to ask for more information, or a swift recap, they can do so. If they need some rules information, they can ask for it. If they're just stuck, I start counting down from five, and at zero they get skipped. This has an amazing effect on people who...

    D&D 4E 4e Combat - Environment the Most Deadly?

I don't recall that you could push people in Warhammer Quest...never played the other one. I was just joking around, btw.

    D&D 4E 4e Combat - Environment the Most Deadly?

So, D&D isn't WoW, it's Super Smash Brothers?

Is Dungeons & Dragons Becoming Too Paul Bunyanesque?

Huh. Not bad. I would probably buy an RPG that was centered around the kind of stories you're referencing there, now that I think about it.

Complete Dungeons of Dread Photo Gallery

Man, those are just bad. Especially the silver dragon, which looks like a cheap toy someone spraypainted. On the positive side, the death knight looks kinda like a fantasy chesspiece, which is sorta neat. And the warforged looks a little bit like Dr. Doom.

IF a PDFs of the 3 core books were leaked, would you:

I'd download it and probably play it. It would only affect my decision to pre-order if it was very, very bad. Playing a game without physical copies of the books annoys the hell out of me, so I wouldn't be able to cancel my purchases if I intended to keep playing the game. In all...

    D&D 4E 4e Multiclassing

This is pretty much what I've been thinking, as well. So, there will be a ton of people saying that you can't REALLY multiclass, because you don't get to take levels of another class. Which is fine, because that's not really relevant to whether I'll like it or not. Also: I love your .sig...

    New Information from the UK

Well, I read it as him making a choice. Which is in itself pretty interesting. If you want Dragonborn of lots of different classes to be able to use the breath weapon attack effectively, it makes sense to key it to different attributes. However, it also seems strange to just say "use...

    WotC_Shoe: He DM's, but his pc's don't fight!

I would suppose that, for one example, diplomacy checks as an extended and resisted action, rather than as a WIN button, is different from 3.x.

    Dispel Magic

It's probably underpowered if it only gets rid of one of the summoned creatures. I'd say it would affect all of them within range, if I had to make a call without other rules to reference.

    Mindflayer's Interview at WotC

I think that gnome is probably the best iconic character they've ever had.

    Dispel Magic

Even so, I'm a little unsure about the power of a chance of removing an enemy's effect v. putting up one of your own, which if it's a utility power might not even require a check.

    Dispel Magic

I'm not sure this is good enough. You use your action to MAYBE get rid of one of the enemy's effects, instead of trying to accomplish something on your own. It takes up one of your power slots to have this ability, and uses a daily to attempt it, and that's if you even get a chance to use it...
