The biggest dungeon you know of?

Ah! World's Largest Dungeon was the one I had been thinking of.

The biggest dungeon you know of?

Wasn't there some product that came out right about when Monte published Ptolus called "The Megdungeon" or something? I'm remembering something that was just like a giant 3 inch 3 ring binder of maps and murders.

D&D 5E (2014) What Magic System do you prefer?

Ohmygod, thank you for pointing me at this. I didn't even know that version of Mage existed.

    D&D 5E (2014) What do I need to build a world?

I don't think I've ever had a class or race "unlocked" per se, but I often have character options that aren't normally available get put on the table when a character dies in a "not normal" location.

Looking for a way to travel /store your Dwarven forge City tiles ?

Wow. I never bought into Dungeon Tiles, and even though I'm not really a fan of laser cut wood projects, I freaking love organizing and putting away game stuff. What are the dimensions? It would be great to use them as drawers in something like an old steamer trunk. You could wheel it out...

D&D 5E (2014) What Magic System do you prefer?

Although I'm a fan of the 5E system, what I'd really love is something that could replicate D&D spells, but that was born of a system akin to Mage: The Ascension.

    D&D 5E (2014) What do I need to build a world?

You don't need to have players to go the bottom up route, but having them pretty much guarantees that the world you're building has stuff that they're going to be interested in.

    D&D 5E (2014) What do I need to build a world?

I know that there are a couple of really good world building games out there, but I'm completely blanking on any of the names... halp

[Feb 2016] What Are You Reading?

I'm nearing the end of Song of the Beast by Carol Berg, and I'm honestly surprised that it's as popular as it is. I really enjoy the style, but the dialog, plot, and just the way the world works really bug the hell out of me. Anyone else have any of those problems?

    D&D 5E (2014) What do I need to build a world?

First off, a +1 to pretty much everything that everyone else has said so far. Second off, I'd draw even more attention to the importance of focusing your energies on where the people playing the game are going to be looking, and then spiraling outward from there. Nowadays I do almost all of my...

I think we have our character name!

    X-Files season 10

My main problem with it was that (especially in the age of "modern" TV series extravaganzas like Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Game of Thrones) I expected this to be a tight, six episode story arc that carried and developed the existing story in some kind of meaningful way. Instead what we...

    D&D 5E (2014) Creating a spell book as loot for a wizard

One of the things I had really liked from (I'm assuming) the Scarred Lands was the idea of spellbooks being more than just lists of spells. They urged you to think of spellbooks more along the lines of personal text books or even history books, full of hypotheses and conjectures, and scribbled...

    Is this DMPC okay?

Yeah. and if you decide to keep your players around, you can make memorizing and reciting the prophecy back you you something that they have to do before you'll let them play. Or maybe you can do pop quizzes for them to be able to get their XP?

    Is this DMPC okay?

In all honesty, I'd say that your friends are only holding you back. You'd probably be able to run a much better game if you dumped those freeloaders. You could even maybe add a second DMPC to beef up your defenses and cover for her (I'm sorry, but pitiful) STR, DEX, and WIS scores.

“I never had any friends later on, like the ones I had when I was sixteen…does anyone?”

I'd say shoot for a large gaming group (or any other large nerdy hobby gathering), and then let it all tumble out naturally from there. [EDIT] http://www.meetup.com/Calgary-Geek-Social-Club/ ?

    Monte Cook On Fumble Mechanics

Ways that work: "The focus of my game is the narrative and is role play heavy." "My game is a character-driven, sandbox, exploration game." "We play a hack and slash dungeon delve." Ways that don't work: "Your game isn't really an RPG." "Your game is hippy story-time garbage." "If you want...
