    DM Genie

I purchased DM Genie and love it. Of all the ones listed above, it seemed to have the best organization, feature set, and ease of use IMHO. It has a supporting community on their web site and a bunch of great volunteers that make the program even better.

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

There are many ways to kill an opponent with DR. Spells, element damage like alchemists fire, buff spells, tactical delaying (such as have the high-AC guy(s) try to keep the attention of the enemy with defensive attacking (or full defense if they can't get through DR) while the rest of the...

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

There are spells that will align your weapon to a certain alignment to get through DR. Even if you don't have the right material or alignment, the DR values are lower so you can still damage the creature.

Dcollins, You mention the a-la-carte mode of item creation as a bad thing. Do you agree that it's valuable for a DM to be able to help calculate price for a magic item from a standardized formula? It certainly helps for the DMs that really don't have an idea on how to price them. In my game...

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

Usually a witch uses a broom, which is a magic item that may have continuous flight on it.

Do Quick Loading and Rapid Reload Stack

I concur with hong, but not the bit about the Big Book o' Brken Magic :)

    Thumbs Down to 3.5 Edition

I was going to write a more thorough reaction, but gfunk hit most all the points I was going to make. I agree with him on everything except for the Open Gaming bit. I also wanted to reiterate that item creation feats were around in 3.0 and are not new in 3.5. I like the fact that you can...

House Jaelre? How do you pronounce that?

Um, actually, I haven't gotten that far yet. edit: Ok, I just realized you're making a pun off of Ol' Yeller :)

House Jaelre? How do you pronounce that?

    I pronounce it YAHL-er.

    Blindsight vs. Illusions

If it wasn't physics, then they wouldn't mention sonar when explaining how blindsight works :)

    Blindsight vs. Illusions

If blindsight uses sonar to detect enemies, then I don't think it would see an illusion at all - there's no physical presence for the sonar waves to bounce back.

    finding invisible characters

I would think if someone attacked and hit you, that you would know the square from which it originated.

    Giving out treasure

Perhaps switch some weapons early on (3rd or 4th level), but once they get creation feats it's up to them to tailor their weapons. If they happen to fight someone with their weapon or not, so be it (I run modules). After all, that's what the feats are for. If the creator gets behind, he'll...

    finding invisible characters

Here's the kicker - what if he ends his turn in the space with the invisible creature?

D&D 3.x [3.5] Knockdown and Imp. Trip Benefits

I suggest looking at: weapon finesse flying kick (double damage on a charge) expert tactician (extra melee attack against foe with denied dex bonus) close quarters fighting (AoO when being grappled, add to grapple check)

    Critical hit exception

Power Lunge adds to the strength modifier. Headlong Rush does double damage on a charge. Not sure if those count as "adding dice to damage" or not.

Would you allow this in your games?

A better question would be, "would I allow it in my game? If so, how would I structure combats so the PCs will have a challenge? How long will the one trick pony be fun for them?" You'll probably find that, in the end, an abusive combo like that will just turn out to be no fun for everyone...

    Giving out treasure

Personally, I feel that if they use up one-shot magic items during the fight, then they use them up. However, you could also do it this way - determine the loot the PCs will get after they defeat the creature. Then let the creature use one shot loot items, but don't count it against what they...

    Critical hit exception

What about Power Lunge (Sword & Fist) and Headlong Rush (Races of Faerun)? Would they multiply in a crit?
