D&D 5E (2014) Does a nonmagic arrow from a magic bow pierce nonmagic weapon resistance?

Sometimes these "official" rulings make no sense to me at all.

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with a trouble player and a major blow up

Stop encouraging him. I wanna get back to arguing about Blade Pact Warlocks sometime this year.

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with a trouble player and a major blow up

You should never confuse half-baked game mechanics with an actual moral sense. The D&D alignment system is for amusement only.

D&D 5E (2014) How can warlock patrons teach things they don't know?

Some questions provide their own answers. Can a patron teach a warlock something the patron doesn't know to begin with? In a word, NO. It's a logical impossibility. Where does this leave us? If your warlock just learned X, Y, and Z, but Orcus (or whoever) doesn't know X, Y, or Z... then...

D&D 5E (2014) Warlock, Pact of the Blade, Melee

Because "magic" that's why. Your warlock has a mystical connection to his or her pact blade, which he does NOT have with any other weapon, even if it looks identical.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's your Master Villain like?

My Master Villain? The Infamous Gnomish Assassin, Silent G! He'd explain the joke, but then he'd have to kill you. Silently.

    D&D 5E (2014) Preventing Teleportation

Aside from spells, are there any materials (that could be built into the walls) which block teleportation?

D&D 5E (2014) Warlocks and high level play

Regardless of "build" I think the Foresight spell does it for me. My Warlock is going straight to 17th level without getting sidetracked by multi-classing; after that we'll see.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sometimes...

Yeah, sometimes it's tough to make the call between "okay what character class do I really want to play" vs. "the nature of this game makes certain things (like friendly fire) inevitable." You don't have to plan on slinging spells at your allies - it's gonna happen eventually. Haha.

    D&D 5E (2014) Surprise underrated abilities

Yeah we might be talking about different editions; the 3.5E version of the spell was just plain broken: A 20' radius area filled with tentacles, immune to all damage, with a Grapple Bonus of (Caster Level +8), automatic grapple check on anyone who entered, doing 1d6+4 damage to anyone grappled...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sometimes...

The Fifth Edition Evoker's Sculpt Spell class feature is perfect for this sort of thing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Surprise underrated abilities

EBT was pretty much always a game-changing spell since its first appearance, so I'm not sure who considers it "surprising" any more, let alone underrated. I think at this point everyone knows how good it is, and unlike some other spells, it didn't get an unexpected power-up when converted to 5E.

    D&D 5E (2014) Surprise underrated abilities

The 5E version of the Faerie Fire spell surprised me, and I actually overlooked it for quite a while because it didn't impress me at all in previous editions. In 5E, however, it's improved to the point of being a game-changing spell.

D&D 5E (2014) Warlocks and high level play

Exactly this. The Warlock plays well as an arcane specialist. They have a lot of specialties to choose from, but once they've made that choice it's hard to change; they're not as flexible as the wizard. Or even the sorcerer.

D&D 5E (2014) Beguiling Influence mod: advantage instead of proficiency?

Just because you once had a terrible GM doesn't mean there's no place for social/RP skills in D&D. Not everyone shares your play style, let alone his.

D&D 5E (2014) Beguiling Influence mod: advantage instead of proficiency?

I guess I'm no one then. :p For characters/campaigns where the emphasis is on RP, it's a viable choice. But a Warlock who's seriously interested in being a "face" character (not unusual due to their Charisma) would probably rather have proficiency in those skills. If not from the Invocation...

New Sage Advice: Class Features, Combat, Spells, & Monsters

I have *never* seen a Summoning spell that didn't allow the caster to choose what kind of creature he summoned. No idea what's going on with that.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Vampire Hunter/Slayer - How would you do it?

Cleric/Ranger is the obvious choice - mainly because it would work. I never go with the obvious choice (I'm crazy like that) so I'll suggest something different on general principles: Vengeance Paladin/Favored Soul (Life, Light, or War domain). I'd have a blast playing that.
