D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

Finally, someone around here points out how crossbows actually work. I couldn't give XP twice so I quoted to point out how freaking excellent this post is.

D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

I've not seen any of the above do things that require them to sprout two extra arms. And seriously, if the GM's requirement to accurately keep track of how many limbs your character needs to complete your stated actions during a turn is ruining all your fun, you're probably at the wrong table...

D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

Nobody's saying that having two hand crossbows, with no hands free to reload them, mysteriously getting reloaded anyway, round after round, is over-powered. No, that's not what we're saying at all. We're just saying it's silly beyond any possibility of belief! Carry on. Hey! How about a...

D&D 5E (2014) Does the new ammunition rule screw up dual hand crossbow?

Yeah, if you want to hold a crossbow in each hand and load both of 'em every round with your teeth, that's just fine. Or use your tail if you're playing a Tiefling, cuz that's awesome.

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with a trouble player and a major blow up

In my experience, a determined troublemaker will selectively hear all the parts of this "mea culpa" that they want to hear, and conveniently forget the rest. This amounts to begging them to continue their pattern of abuse, if not outright escalate it. In other words, don't encourage him!

D&D 5E (2014) Dealing with a trouble player and a major blow up

It's absolutely not worth the trouble to keep this guy in your game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Econ 101

I think they're useful from a game design standpoint. Some actions (spells, attacks, or whatever) would be prohibitive "trap" options if they required a standard action, but overpowered if they were presented as free actions. The bonus action is a useful compromise for these cases. This is...

    D&D 5E (2014) I think a cantrip somewhat cripples the CR 16 marilith

Faerie Godfather got there ahead of me. Shocking Grasp isn't really a good Wizard spell; it's a spell made for "gish" types, especially if they've got the War Caster feat and they're looking for a cantrip to use as an opportunity attack. Eldritch Knights and BladeLocks take note.

D&D 5E (2014) When is the new issue of Dragon+ due?

OK, I've been out of the loop I guess. Help an old gamer out? What's Dragon+ and where do I find it?

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Econ 101

The thread title led me to believe this would be a useful discussion of the 5E action economy! 1) I'm indifferent to what they're called. 2) I find them quite useful.

    D&D 5E (2014) Mage Armor: A (nearly) must have?

Sounds like your GM could use a few pointers. He's obviously not nearly evil enough.

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Econ 101

Excellent work, I might just borrow that. But reading this whole thread just made me feel like someone cast that spell and I failed every single saving throw!

D&D 5E (2014) Randomized bag of holding contents

Older versions of the Robe of Useful Items had (IIRC) a mule in them. And a lit campfire. LOL Not sure about the current one.

Mike Mearls on D&D Psionics: Should Psionic Flavor Be Altered?

This is exactly why we don't need psionics. At all. We've already got magic; (both arcane and divine) another set of "kewl powerz" would be altogether redundant.

    D&D 5E (2014) Action Econ 101

Does anyone remember the 1st edition (or was it 2E?) spell called Leomund's Lamentable Belaborment?

D&D 5E (2014) Randomized bag of holding contents

I'd suggest including 1d3 items from every table (if applicable) in the equipment chapter. Some tables can and should be combined. This will give you: Armor & Weapons Adventuring Gear Tools (and musical instruments) Mounts, Animals, Tack, Harness and Vehicles (inc. water vehicles) Trade Goods...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mage Armor: A (nearly) must have?

I think once you've reached the point where you can spare a first level spell slot, it would be foolish not to use it for Mage Armor. Unless there's a better option. Which I'm hard pressed to come up with.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can a Warlock use scrolls?

Actually, not so much for Warlocks. Back in the days of 3.5E, Warlocks of 4th level and higher could Take 10 on the Use Magic Device skill, and read pretty much any scroll we felt like. We also had awesome Invocations like Vitriolic Blast, Tenacious Plague, and Get Off My Lawn!
