I need a good sourcebook on Fey

GURPS Faerie is a great sourcebook. No stats or anything, but a wonderful introduction into the creatures called fey. What's more, it's not focused on the British Isles, so you can use ideas from other cultures to throw players for a loop from time to time. Another source is Carol Rose's...

    Settings where humans not dominant

That's sort of what I was getting at.

    Settings where humans not dominant

Have any of you come across or made up settings where humans are not the dominant race? Could you tell me more about them?

What makes a bard a bard?

And let's not forget . . . Lucifer! As if D&D needed more devil-worshipping accusations, the Prince of Darkness (*insert other titles here*) has been cited as the source of many a musical phenomenon (Google Robert Johnson and "Devil Went Down to Georgia" if you get a chance). And the 3.X...

What makes a bard a bard?

You haven't heard of Orpheus? Or the Pied Piper? Or Apollo? Or Pan?

What makes a bard a bard?

I think I posted this somewhere else before, but here's what I think: Heroic bard: Disney princesses (especially the ones that talk to animals), Jareth (the one in the tight pants), Jimi Hendrix, Pied Piper, sirens Paragon bard: Orpheus, Luthien, Sauron Epic bard: Apollo, Dionysus, Pan...

    True20 with talent trees?

Cool, thanks. If anybody else has something like True20 with talent trees, I'd love to take a look at them too.

    True20 with talent trees?

Does anyone know of something that is based in True20 but uses talent trees? I'm considering starting up a game soon, and this would be ideal (unless I simply use something else like Unisystem).

Gandalf - Patient Zero of Bad DMPC Epidemic?

    This is hilarious.

    statting Klingons and Gargoyles

You're on the right track. I think, though, that the orc stats penalize them too much. There's nothing in the series to indicate that the average gargoyle is below the human average in any of the mental stats. If, in 3.5E terms that gives them a LA, that's fine. I'd rather start high then...

    statting Klingons and Gargoyles

I've a mind to replace orcs with something more akin to Disney's Gargoyles (without the wings and tail, and they don't turn to stone during the day - more like really big Klingons without the bumpy foreheads). However, I run into a problem as far as giving them stats. They're stronger and...

    Elrond

    LOL!

    Elrond

Just to emulate some of his magical abilities, I'd say he'd need something like: Bard 15/Paladin 20/Ranger 20/Loremaster 10. He'd likely also have Elf paragon abilities. Of course, the alignment restrictions would make this thoroughly impossible.

    Elrond

Actually it was Vilya, the Ring of Air. Also, he's part Maia. Y'know, Gandalf's "extended family."

    Elrond

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. In D&D terms, Elrond is more likely to have bard levels than cleric levels. Because: 1. Bardic knowledge: Is there anything about Middle-earth this guy doesn't know? 2. He can sing and play the harp. Well, if being raised by Maglor has any effect...

    Elrond

    A. Lot. He's a Badass Bookworm. Even compared to most Elves.

    Elrond

I've heard this said a lot, and from my readings of Tolkien's works (and I mean everything, not just The Silmarillion and LotR), that's not precisely true. The choice of the Half-Elven refers to fate and destiny, not type. The reasoning is pretty simple: You can't be both mortal and immortal...

    Reinventing fantasy cliches

Disharrock, I think alignment is a D&D trope, not one of fantasy in general. However, the idea of races being innately good or evil is something that keep cropping up.

    I'm sorry. I overreacted.

    Reinventing fantasy cliches

I probably wouldn't alter a thing. Whatever that's available with Stone Age technology is available for PCs. I won't even levy penalties since Stone Age is the baseline. However, things from a Bronze Age or Iron Age culture would get bonuses. As far as classes, I might alter some of what's...
