    Eclipse?

Has anyone used Eclipse at all by Distant Horizons Games? It's a d20 supplement that allows you to point buy everything. It is one of the most imaginative, well-written, and witty rpg books I've read. I have half a mind to set up a PbP and say "everyone download this book for free and come...

    From R&C: Fighters & Armor

Not sure why people get so hung up on names. My characters have included one with the knight class who isn't actually a "knight" she's a swordfighter who has a peculiar code of honour. She certainly doesn't call herself a knight; as well as a bard who enters into mystic battle trances to aid his...

Sailors on the Seas of Fate - Rana Mor!

"We shall see, sir, we shall see..." Balama rejoinders jauntily.

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

Alistia looks at first Ryon and then Thane as if they're speaking gibberish, and then goes off to gut the game.

    Attempting to start a game.

I would really really advise buying the 3.5 PHB or the DMG. They'll walk you through how to create characters step by step. Also, have a look at PbP threads to see the conventions used and how different people run things.

Six Nights to Yearsend (Ptolus Group B)

Verosh harrumphs at all this god-nonsense, "I'll be outside." he says with disgust and leaves the temple.

My, how the adventures have changed...

My own quick version for Elric! The party have heard of the fabled Tower of Daerd'k'leren, a sorcerer of fell repute who was aligned with Chaos. To guide them to the site they have an ugly but jolly fellow called Joran Crysthan. He will not enter the tower but with a merry wink, he says that...

Sailors on the Seas of Fate - Rana Mor!

Balama shakes her head at your banter, "Very well," she says, "Zariv and Artemis; Esteban with Anemone. And of course... You'll have to agree on your bunk mates. Hurm and Terez have their hammocks in the hold, but the rest of you will have to come to some arrangement with the two cabins." She...

Into the New World, Chapter 1: Amongst the Verdant Towers

Alistia nods and takes some of the game from Thane. It would be weird if she didn't know how to.

Sailors on the Seas of Fate - OOC

Depending on the situation, a character may gain bonuses or suffer penalties due to cover. The DM judges what bonuses and penalties apply. Cover Cover provides a bonus to a character's AC. The more cover a character has, the bigger the bonus. Table: Cover Degree of Cover AC Cover...

Sailors on the Seas of Fate - OOC

    On a further note, I'll be using 3.0 cover/concealment rules, and 3.0 face/reach rules.

Running games with unintended systems. . .

I agree, Paladin would be perfect as a system - it encourages heroics and crazy stunts e.g. characters leaping over mighty rivers in a single bound.

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

@jdrakeh - No probs! Nice to have a civilized discussion! :D The 3E Saurial article did give me a geek-asm. Damn, I need to lobby to play one in the next game I'm in...

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

Complete Book of Humanoids was great. Yay Saurial Paladins!

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

Yep monks and assassins in Scarlet Brotherhood. Barbarians got their own handbook, and monks got... I'm tempted to say 'the shaft 'but the popped up in the Priest's Handbook, and cavaliers got into the Fighter's Handbook. Half-orcs were... Book of Humanoids?

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

Just so. :D Yes, I had forgotten the title change in 1E. And yes, 2E Legends and Lore has different rules and text. 1E 2E

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

Sorry, it is a different book entirely - the Melnibonean and Cthulu mythos are absent. The stats are 2E format, and the gods are all given speciality priests in accordance with 2E rules. It is a 2E book, not a 1E book. Oh and the art is different. It is definitely not a reprint. An update...

Into the New World - OOC - Calling NMF and Masquerade!

Oh goody. More "you weaklings would be dead without me" to follow haha :D

    Differences between 1st & 2nd Edition?

Aha, but reduced visibility is different from complete invisibility ;) The gods did appear in the supplement Legends and Lore very early on in 2E's life but didn't have much impact until Planescape in 1994 (the only reason I actually bought Legends and Lore!) so yes they had less of a foothold...
