Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Well, most people aren't dodging the actual bullet after the trigger's been pulled, they're trying to not be in the direct line of fire as the gunman is firing. That being said, a *lot* of bullets get fired that don't hit their targets because the target's aren't standing still. D&D doesn't...

    Why Is the Cleric Unfun?

QFT. The fact is, as soon as the party sees you playing a cleric, the *expect* to be healed. And, even worse, some players get annoyed when you'd rather cast an offensive spell than cast a cure on them, even if your spell can win the combat. What makes the cleric 'un-fun' is the expectation...

    Is it just me...

All the books I mentioned had some playtesting. Obviously SW Saga was playtested in some fashion before they released it, which means, the core mechanic for 4th Edition was already playtested. Same with the other books. A lot of questions and other issues about SWSE are being posted on the...

    Is it just me...

4th Edition seems to be quite similar to SWSE (I remember it being said that the system for one was pretty much based on the system of the other - I don't remember the order), and that's been out for a while. The classes, races, and other specifics might be different, but the core system for...

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

Oh noes! DnD r teh ruin! Um.. None of *my* wizards aspired to get a spell that sucked 5k exp from them. That's the antithesis of gaining power, as it's the one spell sure to keep you at the same level if you keep casting it. Not going to miss it, as it seemed to be used mostly for the stat...

Should you be able to dodge a fireball by readying an action?

Unless you are able to move beyond the spell's maximum range.. Obviously it won't help if you're 100' away from a wizard casting a long range spell, but at distance, it's possible to move beyond the casting range, especially from a wand.

    Rules Compendium Rules Changes

Changes are not Errata. Errata (by its nature) fixes errors. If a rule was in error, the errata on that rule should be free. Since the PHB has come out, some rules have changed (like the Aid Another rule - it was changed in Complete Adventurer). So, that rule wouldn't be found in Errata...

    Trip With a Bolas

No. They're a ranged trip attempt. If they hit, you still have to make the trip check to trip your opponent, which can still fail.

    D&D 4E Magics Items in 4E

Maybe "Weapons of Legacy" was one book that was a '4th Edition' playtest book, like Bo9S and such...

What 3rd level spell should a Vow of Peace/Poverty sorcerer take?

Haste also increases movement speed and provides an AC bonus. I don't see any issue, honestly.

    Rope Trick: any advances?

There's a Secure Shelter type spell (5th level) that provides camouflage for the shelter it creates. It's from the Spell Compendium, if I'm not mistaken.

Players, DMs and Save or Die

Ummmm. Rrriiiiiight. *Both* of those monsters (Stone giant and Bodak) are on the Random Encounter Table. So, I guess people *are* supposed to use monsters with SoD effects the same way as something like a 'simple stone giant' in the current edition.

Too old for the first time?

I'm also going to chime in with the "I'm 30 and I think I'm the target audience". Almost everything I've seen so far in the previews says "Oh, hell yes! About time!" to me. I'm *so* sick of Vancian style magic, for one. SoD effects for another. What I'm seeing now is more of an "Earthdawn"...

    Greater Masterwork?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, there were a few alternate Masterwork rules in the "Goods and Gear" guide from KenzerCo.

Does being Mounted affect Improved Grab?

First, most of the time, whatever's using Improved Grab would have to be Large sized versus a medium opponent. Also, Improved Grab only lets whatever possesses it to automatically *initiate* a grapple, not automatically *win* a grapple. So, even if a character is hit by something with...

That's exactly right, because Bodaks (and similar) don't *ever* show up as random encount... oh, wait..

Players, DMs and Save or Die

I get to the game all ready to play, along with the other three players. If the DM says, "Okay, everybody roll a d20. Jhulae and player 2, you need to get over a 10. Player 3, you need to get over a 15. Player 4, you need to get over a 7. Any player who doesn't make their roll can't play...

    Little Known Rules of D&D

Right. And you completely missed my point. Which is: you've used 1 slot (prayed for from yesterday) in the morning on Longstrider. You now have to prepare Longstrider (in a second slot) at noon for the next day. That's two spell slots dedicated to Longstrider, where as the morning caster...

Spellcasting: Decreasing sleep time to recover Spells?

Never played NWN2, I assume... you only need to rest for *15 seconds* for a spell caster to get their daily allotment of spells back.
