Superheroes are a hot commodity -- why aren't superhero RPG's?

Oh, I was talking specifically about the years before Ogun when she was Sprite and Ariel. (Yeah, that's the ticket... ;))

Superheroes are a hot commodity -- why aren't superhero RPG's?

My group had success with a superhero game using the Fate Accelerated rules mixed with the Venture City (Fate system game) rules. I liked the Fate Accelerated/Fate system for the superhero genre over other systems because: Everyone is capable of doing the superheroic things you see in comic...

    Looking some party games...

We play Codenames with my 8 year old and it works well. There's also Codenames: Pictures (Same premise as Codenames but there are odd pictures instead of words.) that remove any vocabulary hurdles that even younger kids have. Two Rooms and a Boom...

Xanathar's Guide: Sample Life Events Unlocked!

It reminds me of the Heritage tables from L5R. I always enjoyed rolling on those for a little added inspiration for my character that I wouldn't have included otherwise. "My character's married? Hm. I never really considered that. Let's see how to work that into my backstory."

    D&D 5E (2014) How to GM a huge ruin?

Absolutely! I would readily put a skill challenge into a 5th Edition game.

What system would you run Assassin's Creed in?

Thanks for the suggestions! The GM who wanted to run the AC game never actually ran it. Our group put our roleplaying on hold for the time being due to limited availability but if he ever dusts off the idea, I'll pass the recommendations along!

    D&D 5E (2014) How to GM a huge ruin?

Anecdotal as it is, my experiences with skill challenges in 4E is that they played infinitely better when kept behind the screen and playing them 'above board' sucked the life out of them by turning them into a series of dice rolls and spoiled invest in the narrative.

    D&D 5E (2014) How to GM a huge ruin?

If the party is not familiar with the antipaladin and he isn't obviously an antipaladin (e.g., armor adorned with his evil god's symbol, palling around with gnolls, etc.) he could band with the party for some reason. They could help him get through a dangerous portion of the ruins. Or he could...

Setting or System - whichever applies to you?

Typically settings draw me in and systems keep me. I love Star Wars, so I'll check out any version of Star Wars that comes out. But if the system isn't to my liking, I go with a system that I like instead.

D&D 5E (2014) I'm working on a homebrew pantheon for my upcoming campaign, any sugestions?

In my experience, letting players contribute is an excellent way to get buy in from the players. In the last game I played in I was a cleric and the GM let me design the hierarchy of the church. I don't think my additions majorly changed his plot but it made me much more invested in my...

Game concept: In game death, permanent vs Mario style. Is there a happy medium ?

You could take death off the table as the only consequence from combats. Replace it with being captured, getting injured or wounded, indebted to the victor of the combat, etc.

[GUIDE] Born to be Wild, a sorcerer guide.

For me it's the glorious wild surge table.

D&D 5E (2014) What to do about flakes?!

I had a friend like that. He would follow the other characters around until it was time to roll some dice to stab a monster or check his skill. But he wasn't interested enough to prioritize gaming over the rest of things in his life. Since he was our friend and was fun and non-disruptive in...

D&D 5E (2014) What to do about flakes?!

My preference is to continue the session as long as two players show up. For those who don't show up their characters are on a side quest if there's an easy way to write them out of the session. If the group is at a point where the character couldn't reasonably go off on a side quest (e.g...

#RPGaDAY Day 28: What film/series is the biggest source of quotes in your group?

Certainly the Big Lebowski for my group with Firefly as a close second.

Tell me how crazy I am? [Dresden Files / Gotham City]

Yeah, I certainly see what you mean. I imagine you could find one version of Batman/Gotham City that everyone was familiar with. It's hard to imagine a gaming group who hasn't seen the Christian Bale Batman movies. (But they might not match your vision of Gotham City.) I haven't noticed...

Tell me how crazy I am? [Dresden Files / Gotham City]

For what it's worth my friends and I had a Fate campaign featuring the homebrewed sidekicks of heroes from Sentinels of the Multiverse (think Young Justice in the Sentinels setting). Two mortal characters had aspects that captured Batman's being-prepared-for-anthingness. The Robinish character...

Tell me how crazy I am? [Dresden Files / Gotham City]

Very cool idea! If you get a group of new players together I would ask them how they feel about reading nine pages for homework. If they're cool with it, give them the reading assignment. If they're not, proceed anyway and let the players rely on their individual concepts about Gotham City to...

#RPGaDAY Day 18: Which RPG have you played the most in your life?

The various editions of D&D (2nd-5th) wins with the various editions of Star Wars (d6, d20, SAGA, FFG) as a close second and L5R on its heels.
